Inside the car, Damon sat behind the wheel, his hands steady on the steering wheel as he drove with calm precision, while Jacob remained seated quietly beside him, stealing brief glances in his direction every now and then.
Confusion was clearly written all over Jacob's face, his brows slightly drawn together as he tried to read Damon's expression, hoping to catch even the smallest hint of where they were going or what this sudden change of plans was all about but Damon's face remained unreadable, as always.
"Stop looking at me like that." Damon's voice cut through the silence without him even turning his head.
Jacob let out a small, frustrated breath. "How could I not?" he shot back, finally voicing what had been bothering him.
"You suddenly told me to clear your schedule, pulled me out of the company without any explanation, and now we're driving somewhere I don't even know. Where exactly are we going?"
