Chapter 30 - Uh oh

"K-Koji!"

Mei was horrified at the sight of Koji's new appearance; she had never approved of him doing this!

"Uh-eh..."

Koji didn't know what to say as Mei looked at him with a shocked and utterly repulsed expression.

"You, you look like a killer Koji! Did Lin allow this?"

Koji gulped; he was glad the anger would not be fully directed towards him solely.

"Y-yes Ma'am..."

Mei slightly calmed down at her sons pitiful tone; however, she still had her grudges.

'Good lord woman, it's not like I killed someone! It's just a change of hair and eye color...'

Koji was a bit surprised at Mei's ridiculous reaction; well, at least he found it ridiculous.

...

"Koji, you know your mom really had it in for me; you could have at least told her it was your idea!"

Lin said to Koji with a slightly angry expression; although he may be an adult and usually mature, this time he was blaming an eight year old.

Luckily, Koji was no normal eight year old so the blame didn't really effect him much in the slightest.

"Sorry Master Lin."

He had already expected Lin to foster a slightly different attitude than usual due to him snitching on him, at least Lin didn't carry too much anger towards him; it was only a tiny bit of annoyance, which gradually faded away.

"Well, anyway Koji, today is a big day; Ivory is 10, which you are already aware of. However, due to her talent I have decided to start teaching her how to use a Zelit! Yes, I said normally for kids they start at 11; I guess you and Ivory will be early."

Koji smiled a bit; he had long waited to see Ivory struggle on this, which is because she had laughed at his pain when he was attempting to do it! Now, he would be the one laughing!

"Is she starting now?"

"Yes, come on."

...

A figure sat down in the grass with a brown Zelit in her soft, white hands; her white robes blanketed her body, also cascading all over the green grass she had sat upon. Her face was filled with determination as she stared down at the Zelit with her green eyes, of course, this was Ivory; she was about to attempt her first try at using the Zelit!

'Ha! It took me over 20 tries; there is no way she has an easy time!'

Koji inwardly snickered at the situation at hand.

'Well, it should be irrelevant to me if it's easy for her or not; I need to stop basing my feelings off of this stupid shit!'

Koji's mood shifted to a slight anger, as he was now disappointed in himself.

'Realistically, she will probably fail a ton; laughing at it would make her fail more....'

'Maybe I shouldn't...'

It's not like Koji hated Ivory; he was just slightly annoyed that she made fun of him while he tried to activate his Zelit. Therefore, he ended up letting it go.

He shifted his focus back to the situation at hand, which is when Ivory started.

Her expression shifted to that of pain and stress all at once; it was obvious the process had started.

BAM!

The Zelit had exploded not even 15 seconds later! There was no pieces flying; it had just evaporated into nothing.

Ivory's expression showed instant irritancy, but also slight relief as the pressure was lifted off of her.

...

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

Try after try, the Zelit kept exploding and Ivory's mood kept getting worse; not only that, but her condition was gradually declining too!

Her expression was now of utter annoyance; the joy of a little girls face being completely replaced by hatred.

'Wow, she's making even less progress then I did my first day...'

Koji had expected her to fail many times, however he did not expect her to be stuck this badly.

Compared to Koji's attempts, hers were much more fruitless.

After awhile, Lin got Ivory to stop; she made little progress and was filled to the brim with anger, so Koji didn't even bother trying to talk to her after it.

Instead, he just stayed outside by himself as Lin and Ivory went in.

In fact, a giant smile plastered his face!

'Yes! How did I not remember this before!? The method for getting a Xin core from a beasts dead body, I know it now!'

He was filled with joy as he recalled the memory that had been placed in his head just a day ago!

'You have to strike it in the heart, and only then does it have a 3% chance to drop; however, you can increase this by striking with a Soul Mantra Relic or Weapon Relic. At most, you can up it to 10%!'

However, it would be hard for Koji to make use of this knowledge; it was not like he was killing beasts often and had access to Soul Relics.

Contrary to both, he actually had never fought a beast, and he had zero access to Soul Relics!

'Tch, whatever; one day it may come in handy anyway.'

He considered the fact he would not be at this 'stalemate' for long. One day, he would travel on his own; at that point, he would be able to achieve much more with the vast knowledge he accumulated.

'For now, I have to continue going with the flow...'

'I've been here for eight years now, only eight more years till I've been here a year longer than I lived back on earth....'

When this came, he felt he would be fully identified as a member of this world; no longer would he be a stranger to it, in fact he would know more about it than he ever knew about earth.

'Not like it's a bad thing...'

'However, I still miss energy drinks! Why can't they have those here?'

He suddenly recalled his addiction to energy drinks; Koji had been someone to drink over two every day.

'Well, maybe they have other ways to stimulate the same effects...'
