Chapter 85 - Masks Within Bloodlines

Morning came gently—like the world itself had decided to give them a moment to breathe.

The White estate, once heavy with secrets, now held something unfamiliar: warmth.

Not perfect.Not complete.

But real.

Samantha's soft giggle echoed through the sunlit sitting room.

Mau sat on the couch, cradling her daughter while Tim hovered nearby with exaggerated seriousness, holding a baby bottle like it was a high-stakes negotiation.

"I've calculated the angle, the temperature, and the emotional readiness," Tim said. "She will accept the milk."

Samantha blinked.

Then promptly turned her head away.

Mau laughed. "Rejected. Completely."

Tim gasped. "Impossible. I am a visionary."

"Visionary, yes. Baby whisperer? Not yet."

Across the room, Sierra watched, hand over her heart, smiling like she was witnessing a miracle she had waited years for.

Dale stood beside her, quieter—but his eyes said everything.

"This… this is what we lost," Sierra whispered.

Dale nodded. "And what we found again."

But peace, as Mau had learned, never came without a shadow.

And this one had a name.

Sheena.

Amber entered the room briskly, tablet in hand, expression sharp. Aida followed, equally focused.

"Mau," Amber said, voice low but urgent. "We found something."

Tim immediately straightened. Mau's smile faded—but her calm remained.

"What is it?"

Aida turned the tablet toward them.

On the screen: files, photos, timelines.

Connections.

Patterns.

A face they all knew too well.

"Sheena isn't just a rival," Aida said.

"She's connected."

Dale stepped closer, brows furrowing. "Connected how?"

Amber inhaled slowly.

"To the White family."

The room stilled.

"She's…" Amber hesitated, then finished, "…Dave's daughter."

Silence hit harder than any explosion.

Mau's fingers tightened slightly around Samantha.

Tim's expression darkened instantly. "That explains everything."

Aida nodded. "Not officially acknowledged. Hidden. Raised away from the main family. But she knew. About the wealth. The legacy. The power."

Amber added, "And when Mau rose… when M Designs exploded globally…"

"She saw a threat," Mau finished quietly.

"Not just a threat," Amber corrected. "An obstacle."

Sierra sank into a chair, shaken. "All this time… another child… and we didn't even know?"

Dale's voice hardened. "Dave didn't just manipulate one life. He created another weapon."

Tim crossed his arms. "So everything Sheena did—"

"—wasn't random," Aida said. "It was strategic."

And suddenly, it all made sense.

The sabotage. The aggressive attacks. The obsession with unmasking Mau.

"She wanted everything," Mau said.

Her voice wasn't angry.

It was clear.

"The empire. The identity. The position."

Mau looked down at Samantha.

"And she thought tearing me down would give it to her."

Amber nodded. "And now that Dave is exposed… she's gone quiet."

Aida added, "Too quiet."

Tim exhaled sharply. "Which means she's planning something."

But before tension could rise too high—

Samantha squealed.

Loud. Dramatic. Completely uninterested in conspiracies.

Everyone blinked.

Then Tim looked down.

"She just… interrupted a strategic briefing."

Mau grinned. "Future CEO energy."

Even Dale chuckled, the tension breaking just slightly.

Sierra reached for Samantha again. "Come here, little one. Save us from all this seriousness."

Mau watched them—really watched.

Her parents.Her child.Her partner.Her chosen family.

And for a moment…

Everything felt balanced.

Tim leaned closer to her, voice soft.

"We'll handle Sheena," he said. "Like we always do."

Mau nodded.

"But smarter," she added.

Across the room, Dale's expression shifted—no longer just a father, but a protector.

"She's still family by blood," he said.

Mau met his gaze.

"But not by choice."

Sierra sighed softly. "Then we choose wisely this time."

Amber straightened. "We tighten security. Control the narrative. Stay ahead."

Aida smirked slightly. "And maybe… let her make the first mistake."

Mau smiled—just a little.

"She will," she said.

"Because people who chase power without purpose…"

Her eyes sharpened.

"…always do."

Samantha yawned.

Tim melted instantly. "That's it. Meeting adjourned. Baby needs cuddles."

Mau laughed softly as Tim carefully lifted their daughter, holding her like she was the most precious thing in the universe.

(Which, to him, she was.)

Dale watched them, then turned to Mau.

"You built all this," he said quietly. "Even without us."

Mau shook her head gently.

"No," she said.

She looked at Tim.At Samantha. At Amber and Aida.

"I built it with the right people."

Sierra smiled. "Then maybe… we can be part of that now too."

Mau paused.

Then nodded.

Outside, the world was already shifting again—news, whispers, movements in the shadows where Sheena waited.

But inside the estate…

There was laughter. There was warmth. There was family.

And this time—

Mau wasn't just ready to fight.

She was ready to protect everything that mattered.
