Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- I Am Vorath

"I am Vorath..."

What am I?

Well… even I don't really know.

When I woke up, I was floating in the vastness of the universe, without memories, without knowing anything… but one thing remains in my mind:

The name Vorath.

And I know it is my name.

But who am I?

Where am I?

I don't know how to feel about where I am…

Fear?

Happiness?

Anger?

I don't recognize these words.

I don't know how much time has passed, or if time is even passing at all.

The only thing I see is a vast darkness… and I find myself attached to repeating:

"I am Vorath..."

"VORATH... VORATH..."

I hear my own voice.

It sounds deep, almost hoarse, like someone who hasn't spoken in a long time.

"Where am I? Where should I be? Is there something beyond this?"

Vorath has many questions… but he doesn't even know if they can be answered.

However, he knows that if there are questions, then there must be answers.

"I am Vorath."

Vorath frowns… well, he tries to.

As he realizes that when he said those words, he felt something colliding with his body… something he would call—

"Is it… wind?"

"I am Vorath."

He murmurs softly, and right after that, suddenly, the darkness around him begins to clear, like a path of light opening… and he sees himself being pulled through the empty vastness toward something.

"I'm being pulled somewhere… and I don't even feel fear… Not feeling anything is strange."

Vorath sighs.

"Wait… feelings… yes! That's it… now I remember… fear… happiness… those are feelings."

"I… am recovering my memories..."

Unfortunately, Vorath doesn't have more time to think. As he approaches the light within the vast universe, he loses consciousness.

His body, inert to everything around him, continues to slowly float toward the light.

But inside Vorath's mind… something is happening.

Memories.

Being unlocked.

---

First, he sees himself in a field, in a farmhouse, playing with a woman and a man.

"Father..."

"Mother..."

When Vorath leaves the house heading toward a lake about 200 meters away, carrying a fishing rod, as he reaches the lake he hears a buzzing sound of something falling so fast his eyes cannot follow it.

Then he turns his head toward the direction of the fall…

And freezes.

Shock runs through his eyes.

Because… his house no longer exists.

And in its place, a person… well… something more like an angel… comes out smiling and shouting:

"Fuck, Marco, you're taking this training way too seriously!"

Marco descends from the sky, getting close and helping him stand up.

Marco had red eyes… clearly horns… a demon.

"Sorry, Rafael, but man… this might be a problem. Look behind you."

Rafael turns around… and his eyes widen.

"Shit…"

Right behind him, two masses of flesh were crushed.

One near the kitchen… and the other near a sofa.

None other than Vorath's parents.

"It won't be a problem… but now I feel bad. I'll compensate the kid."

Marco looks at Vorath, who had tears falling from his eyes, oblivious to the casual conversation between the two beings.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Rafael appears in front of Vorath with a bag of coins, which he throws at Vorath's feet.

Rafael sighs.

"Marco, let's go."

And just like that, the two leave… disappearing.

Vorath, not knowing how to react — after all, he was less than 10 years old — runs toward his house.

And what he sees in the ruins of its destruction… traumatizes him and destroys his life.

---

Years pass… and many things happen in Vorath's memories.

Like the protagonist making a contract with an unknown being…

Then, memories of him massacring two entire dimensions.

One of demons… and one of angels.

---

Vorath remembers being in two similar… yet different situations.

In the realm of the angel dimension, Vorath stood in what was once a glorious empire… now in ruins.

Standing over the rubble of a palace, with a few survivors in front of him…

None other than the angel who destroyed his life.

Rafael.

"Please… don't kill my family!"

Rafael screams.

And Vorath simply decapitates Rafael's reborn son in front of him.

Vorath feels no remorse.

Only satisfaction.

For making the two beings who destroyed his life — and treated it with indifference, as if he were nothing more than an insect — suffer.

Hours pass…

And Vorath stands there, looking up.

His revenge is complete.

But two dimensions were destroyed.

Empires.

Lives.

And still…

It doesn't matter.

---

Vorath feels his sword tremble… and looks at it.

The sword he named at the age of 15:

Eclipse.

"Kid, now that you've done what you wanted, you have to pay for my help!"

Vorath gives a faint smile, without lowering his posture, as if contemplating something beyond the stars.

"Help, huh? Honestly… you were pretty useless. Sure, in the first 200 years you helped a lot… but in the end, I became stronger than you."

Eclipse responds:

"That was expected. After all, you've existed for more than 10,000 years. "If you hadn't found a way to grow stronger on your own and stopped depending on my power, you'd be trash."

"Tsk… shut up… and just kill me."

...

Eclipse replies:

"I'm not going to kill you. In fact, I can't. You've surpassed me a long time ago. So I'll do something different…"

"I will use all your power to revive my true body in a few million years… and then I will destroy the entire universe."

"Of course… your power isn't enough to bring me back at my peak… but it will shorten my wait by a few million years."

Vorath's eyes widen.

"Wait… if I massacred two dimensions and you said that wasn't even 1% of the universe… how many dimensions exist?"

Eclipse answers:

"Foolish boy… after 10,000 years of you drowning in revenge, I can finally explain something so obvious… hahaha… listen carefully."

"The universe is made up of more than 100,000 dimensions."

"And in each dimension, there is a dominant race."

"Each dimension is, in truth, its own universe within the greater universe… like a reflection of itself, but separate. Do you understand?"

Vorath lets out a laugh.

"That's actually simple… so in the end… each dimension is its own universe within the universe… but it's not considered a multiverse, because it's a different dimension, not a separate physical universe."

Eclipse replies:

"Exactly, boy. But there are other universes… though that's not important right now."

"Now, you should already feel your consciousness fading."

"…Yeah."

Vorath answers.

"So let me tell you what will happen."

"You will be sent to a separate dimension, where time flows differently."

"Days there can be years outside."

"But that's not what matters."

"What matters is that… you will most likely lose everything."

"Your memories. Your personality. Your identity."

"But there is a way to prevent that."

"By holding onto who you are for as long as you remain there."

Vorath asks:

"And how long would that be?"

Eclipse answers:

"Five million years outside… and one million years inside."

Vorath:

"I have to stay conscious that whole time… and never forget who I am…"

Eclipse:

"Yes. And after that, you'll be brought back… and thrown into a human body in another dimension."

Vorath:

"Why…? I've already done everything I wanted."

Eclipse laughs.

"Kid… I'm literally going to destroy the universe in a few million years… so why not have some fun?"

"Besides… I'd like to fight you to the death… with my true body."

"If you become strong enough… hahaha!"

Vorath sighs… and throws his sword to the ground.

Eclipse:

"Hey—"

Vorath:

"I can feel it… I'm going… well… goodbye… thanks for the help."

Eclipse:

"I should be the one thanking you, kid! HAHAHA! Two fewer dimensions for me to destroy!"

Vorath:

"Bastard…"

---

And just like that, Vorath loses consciousness…

And his body drifts through the vastness for millennia.

Everything he once remembered begins to fade…

Until only one thing remains:

"I am Vorath."
