Chapter 3 - Episode 3: A Distance That Feels Like Love

Meera Verma tried hard to act normal.

But normal was impossible now.

Every time she closed her eyes, she saw him.

Kabir Rajvansh.

That cold face. Those silent eyes. That moment in the rain when he chose to let her live.

And the worst part?

She didn't understand why it mattered so much.

Days passed.

Life moved on.

College lectures, part-time work, tired nights…

But something inside Meera had changed.

She would pause when a black car passed on the road.

She would look twice at men in suits.

And every time her heart whispered the same question—

Is he somewhere near?

She hated herself for thinking that.

Because he was dangerous.

And she knew it.

On the other side of the city…

Kabir Rajvansh was becoming colder than ever.

Business deals ended in silence.

Enemies disappeared without warning.

His world was still the same.

But he wasn't.

"Boss, we found no trace of the girl," his man reported.

Kabir's expression didn't change.

"Good."

A pause.

"She must stay invisible."

No emotion.

No hesitation.

But inside him… something tightened.

Because she was not supposed to matter.

Yet she did.

That night, Kabir stood in his private office alone.

A glass of whiskey untouched in his hand.

On the table were files, weapons, reports…

But his eyes were somewhere else.

On a name he refused to say again.

Meera Verma.

He had already decided her fate.

Distance.

Silence.

Safety through ignorance.

He would become the villain in her memory… if that meant she stayed alive.

But fate doesn't listen to rules.

The next morning, Meera's college gate was crowded.

Students laughing, walking, living.

She adjusted her bag and stepped inside…

And stopped.

A black car was parked far away.

Still.

Silent.

Watching.

Her breath caught.

She told herself it was nothing.

Just a coincidence.

But her heart already knew—

It wasn't.

Inside the car, Kabir watched her from a distance.

Just one glance.

That was all he allowed himself.

His jaw tightened.

Because seeing her like this…

safe… unaware… alive…

was the only peace he had left.

And also the only pain he couldn't explain.

"She still doesn't know anything," his man said softly.

Kabir replied without looking away.

"She never should."

A pause.

Then quieter—

"Not because I don't want her…"

His fist clenched.

"…but because my world destroys everything it touches."

Meera suddenly turned slightly.

As if she felt something.

But the car was already gone.

And somewhere deep inside her chest…

a strange ache remained.

Like a connection she couldn't name.

Like someone had just left… without ever coming close.

To be continued… 💔
