As Tessa and Valen began walking toward the road that led back to their settlement, Tessa suddenly halted mid-step.
"Wait… why are we heading back without doing anything?" she asked, her brows knitting together as realization struck. They had come all this way for water, yet here they were, strolling back like royalty with nothing accomplished.
Valen didn't seem bothered in the slightest.
"Let's just eat first," he said, clutching his stomach dramatically. "My stomach is making strange noises, Tessa. I'm afraid it might explode."
His eyes shimmered pitifully, his voice soft and whiny like a spoiled child imagining his next meal.
Tessa turned to look at him—and immediately regretted it.
He was drooling.
Actually drooling.
And yawning.
A very wide yawn.
Too wide like a mouth or a whale.
Her eyes narrowed as she stared at his open mouth in disbelief.
"Oh dear… why is his mouth that huge? Like that of a whale?" she muttered under her breath.
Then it hit her.
A wave.
