Soren Vane stood up, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses. "Hello again, Miss Sin. I don't believe we've been formally introduced in this... new capacity. My name still remains Soren Vane."
Evelyn took his hand, her brow furrowed. "I know the name. You were the legal counsel back at the Arise City headquarters, weren't you?"
Soren's smile widened, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Indeed. It seems we all have a way of finding our way back to the center of the storm."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Vane," she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of genuine regret. "It's been a long time. I... I forgot."
Soren Vane's eyes crinkled with a steady, amused smile. Most people would grovel or apologize profusely for forgetting a man of his stature, but her directness was refreshing. It was exactly what he remembered about her.
