Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 8: RULES START BREAKING

No one sat comfortably anymore.

No one relaxed.

The cabin felt… wrong.

Like something invisible had entered with them.

And now—

It was watching.

Ethan stood near the empty seat.

The one with the coffee.

Still warm.

That shouldn't be possible.

"…No one touch it," he said quietly.

Daniel nodded immediately.

"Yeah."

But others weren't listening.

A man stepped forward.

"This is stupid," he said.

"We're just panicking."

He grabbed the cup.

Lifted it.

"See? Nothing—"

The coffee was gone.

Empty.

Just like that.

The man froze.

"…I didn't drink that," he whispered.

Ethan's stomach tightened.

"Put it back," he said.

The man did.

Slowly.

No one spoke.

Because no one understood what just happened.

✈️ Time Isn't Moving

Ethan pulled out his phone again.

11:58 PM.

Still.

Not a second passed.

"…Daniel."

"Yeah?"

"Check yours."

Daniel took out his phone.

"…Same."

Ethan exhaled slowly.

"…Okay."

"Okay, that's bad."

Others checked.

Murmurs spread again.

"My time's frozen too."

"Same here."

"It's not changing."

A woman looked at her watch.

"…Mine too."

Panic started rising again.

But this time—

It was quieter.

More controlled.

More dangerous.

✈️ Trying to Think

Ethan ran a hand through his hair.

"Alright… listen," he said.

People looked at him.

"We need to stop reacting."

"We need to think."

That caught their attention.

"Think about what?" someone asked.

Ethan pointed at the empty seat.

"That."

"Someone was there."

"Now they're gone."

"And we can't remember them."

Silence.

"Now the coffee disappears."

"Time isn't moving."

He paused.

"…Something is controlling this place."

"No," the confident man snapped.

"We don't know that."

Ethan looked at him calmly.

"Then explain it."

The man opened his mouth—

Then stopped.

Because he couldn't.

✈️ Testing Reality

Daniel leaned closer.

"…So what do we do?"

Ethan thought for a second.

Then—

"We test it."

"What?" Daniel said.

"We test the rules."

"What rules?" someone asked.

Ethan looked around.

"…Exactly."

A strange silence followed.

Then—

"Alright," Ethan said.

"Everyone look at the clock."

They did.

11:58 PM.

"Keep watching it," he said.

"No blinking."

"No distractions."

People hesitated.

But then—

They obeyed.

Dozens of eyes locked onto screens.

Watches.

Displays.

Waiting.

Waiting for time to move.

Seconds passed.

Or at least—

It felt like seconds.

Nothing changed.

Then—

A blink.

Just one.

From someone in the back.

"Wait—"

The time changed.

11:59 PM.

Gasps filled the cabin.

"What—?!"

"It moved!"

Ethan's eyes widened.

"…It only changed when someone looked away."

Silence.

"That means…" Daniel said slowly.

"…it's not constant."

"No," Ethan said.

"It's controlled."

✈️ The Pattern

"Okay," Ethan said quickly.

"We test again."

Everyone focused again.

11:59 PM.

This time—

No one blinked.

No one moved.

Nothing happened.

Time stayed frozen.

"…It's watching us," someone whispered.

Ethan didn't deny it.

Because that's exactly what it felt like.

Then—

The lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

The cabin temperature dropped suddenly.

A cold wave passed through everyone.

"…Did you feel that?" Daniel said.

Ethan nodded.

Something had changed.

✈️ Another Test

Ethan turned toward the aisle.

"…We need to test something else."

"What now?" Daniel asked.

Ethan pointed ahead.

"…Walk."

"Walk where?"

"Anywhere."

Daniel hesitated.

Then stepped forward.

One step.

Two steps.

Three—

He stopped.

"…This feels weird."

Ethan frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Daniel turned slowly.

"…I don't feel like I'm moving."

A chill ran through Ethan.

"Come back," he said.

Daniel walked back.

But something was off.

His steps looked normal.

But—

It felt wrong.

Like distance didn't exist properly.

"…Okay," Daniel said.

"…I don't like that."

"Yeah," Ethan muttered.

"Me neither."

✈️ The Second Disappearance

A scream cut through the cabin.

Sharp.

Sudden.

Everyone turned.

A woman stood in the aisle.

Her eyes wide.

"…He was right here!"

"What?" someone said.

"He was right here!"

She pointed to the seat beside her.

Empty.

Ethan's heart dropped.

"…Who?" he asked.

She froze.

"…I—"

Her expression changed.

Confusion.

Fear.

"I don't remember."

Silence.

Again.

Someone was gone.

And again—

No one knew who.

✈️ Faster Now

"It's happening again," Daniel whispered.

Ethan nodded slowly.

"…And faster."

The first time—

It took longer.

Now—

It happened in minutes.

That meant one thing.

They were running out of time.

✈️ The Truth

Ethan looked around the cabin.

At every face.

Every person.

Counting again.

Fewer.

Definitely fewer.

"…We're not just stuck here," he said quietly.

Daniel looked at him.

"…Then what?"

Ethan swallowed.

"…We're being reduced."

The words felt heavy.

Like saying them made it real.

"Reduced?" Daniel repeated.

"One by one," Ethan said.

"…until there's no one left."

A cold silence followed.

Because everyone understood.

Even if they didn't want to.

✈️ Final Moment

The lights flickered again.

Longer this time.

Darkness crept in.

Ethan's chest tightened.

Something was coming.

He could feel it.

Watching.

Waiting.

And choosing.

The lights came back.

Ethan looked around quickly.

Counting.

Again.

Someone was gone.

Again.

And this time—

He didn't even notice when it happened.
