Chapter 12 - The Red Awakening

The forest no longer felt like a place on Earth.

It felt like a broken dimension stitched onto reality.

The air itself trembled.

Kael stood in the center of it all, his red-flamed eyes slowly stabilizing.

Kaelthar watched him carefully now.

Not relaxed anymore.

Not bored.

Alert.

šŸ”„ KAEL'S SHIFT

Kael exhaled once.

And the sound alone pushed dust away from him in a circle.

Jemila stepped back slightly. "Kael… your eyes…"

Kael didn't answer her.

His gaze stayed locked on Kaelthar.

But his voice… was different.

Calmer.

Deeper.

"I understand now."

Kaelthar tilted his head. "Understand what?"

Kael lifted his hand slowly.

"…Why you're slow."

Silence.

Then Kael moved.

āš”ļø FIRST COUNTER ATTACK

Kael disappeared.

Not fully.

Not like Kaelthar.

But fast enough that the air cracked behind him.

Kaelthar reacted instantly—

Too late.

Kael's fist hit his side.

BOOM.

Kaelthar was launched across the forest, crashing through three trees.

Jemila's eyes widened. "He hit him?!"

Kael stood still again.

Waiting.

🐺 VOID HUNTERS REACT

From the shadows:

Nymora narrowed her eyes. "His speed increased… suddenly."

Brakkus growled. "Kill him now."

Kaelthar slowly stood up, wiping dust from his coat.

"…Interesting."

A pause.

"You adapted."

Kael tilted his head slightly.

"I remembered."

šŸ‰ DRAGON SYNC BEGINS

Inside Kael's mind, the dragon spoke again.

YOU ARE OPENING THE SEAL.

Kael whispered mentally. "Seal? What seal?"

THE ONE INSIDE YOU.

Kael frowned. "I don't have—"

Then it hit him.

A flash.

Not memory.

Something deeper.

A chained throne.

A red sky.

And Kael… standing before something enormous.

He staggered.

šŸ’€ FLASH OF THE PAST

Kael saw it clearly for half a second:

A massive council hall.

Dark figures surrounding him.

The Bloody Sun burning above them.

And Kael speaking.

Not begging.

Not afraid.

But defying them.

A voice echoed:

"EXILE HIM. WIPE HIS DIVINITY. SEND HIM DOWN AS HUMAN."

Kael gasped.

The vision ended.

He dropped to one knee.

Jemila rushed forward. "Kael!"

šŸ”„ KAEL REALIZES

Kael held his head.

"…That wasn't a dream."

Kaelthar stepped forward slowly.

"So you're remembering fragments."

Kael looked up slowly.

"…You know what I am."

Kaelthar smiled faintly.

"I know what you were for."

A pause.

"You were a weapon they could not control."

āš”ļø SECOND PHASE ATTACK

Kaelthar vanished again.

But this time—

Kael didn't wait.

He turned instantly.

Blocked.

Countered.

The collision shook the forest.

Kaelthar appeared mid-air, twisting.

Nymora joined in—

A silent slash aimed at Kael's neck.

Kael barely dodged.

Blood still formed a thin line on his cheek.

Jemila shouted, "They're teaming up!"

Kael stood in the center, breathing steadily.

Then—

He smiled again.

"…Good."

🩸 RED SUN BURST

Kael's mark flared violently.

The ground exploded outward in a red shockwave.

All three Void Hunters were forced back.

Kael rose slowly.

His voice changed again.

Not louder.

Not angrier.

But absolute.

"I don't know everything I was."

A pause.

"But I know this."

He raised his hand.

The air around him twisted.

"I was not meant to lose."

The forest fell silent again.

Even the Void Hunters stopped attacking for a moment.

Because Kael wasn't just fighting anymore.

He was remembering how to exist as something else.
