Chapter 84 - A Smile More Dangerous Than Anger

"Mom, I still don't understand why you refuse to tell me what this meeting is really about."

Fiona's voice carried a trace of frustration as she walked beside her mother through the polished company hallway. The soft glow of crystal lights reflected against the marble floor beneath their feet, while Eva's heels clicked rhythmically against the tiles, sharp and elegant, each step calm in contrast to her daughter's rising impatience.

Eva didn't spare her a glance.

"Because, baby…" she said lightly, her lips curving with quiet amusement. "Some things belong in the world of adults."

Fiona nearly stopped walking.

Her brows knitted together, disbelief flashing across her face.

"Baby?" she repeated, her voice dropping an octave. "Mom, I'm engaged."

She turned fully toward her, her eyes burning with restrained annoyance.
