Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 : The kid

'Just fall already, ' Ash cursed under his breath, weaving through a flurry of heavy attacks that would pulverise him if he got hit by at least one,

He wasted no time moving away from Ken, who now looked tired and worn out,

But for Ash, it meant that he had to be more careful.

As there are many dangerous things, one of them is wounded people.

He was sincerely out of breath, and his body had been begging him to stop,

but he couldn't,

Or rather, put in more simplified terms, he wouldn't dare to

'All this for an eye you lost while being an idiot.'

Ash could only curse inside of himself as he couldn't bring himself to say it out due to being out of breath.

The two stood for a little while trying to catch their breath,

And the crowd was strangely amazed; even Kruger seemed very immersed in their battle.

which pissed him off even more as she watched like some sort of circus event ,

While his attention was divided,

When he took a side glance at Kruger, Ken moved swiftly.

and faster than he usually did this time.

going for a full dive, most likely to take Ash's feet off the ground.

But something happened that no one expected,

just as he closed in,

Ash moved,

throwing his body into a flip,

The angle his body went through was impossible.

narrowly escaping the assault,

But he wasn't done.

While he was still in the air,

He passed his whole arm under his neck and immediately went into a chokehold.

Ash knew one thing from the start of the fight, and that was the fact that,

As Ken was strong, he was also someone who barely knew how to use his head when fighting, relying only on brute force.

So he had to set up a trap, one that looked like a slip-up.

But he took it out of desperation. He was tired, and so was Ash.

Already battered and weak, Ken tried his best to shake him off,

But due to the unique position his body was in, it all was to no avail as Ash held on tight like a leech sapping his life away from him.

At this time, both of them had already let go of their daggers and were struggling on the ground,

neither refusing to give up.

Ken was scratching , drawing blood, and doing everything to make him let go.

But Ash refused.

A minute passed, and Ken miraculously hadn't tapped out,

He had gotten all blue, struggling for breath; his movements were less erratic,

attributed to his lack of oxygen, but he still managed to hold on.

Ash, on the other hand, was also exhausted and was barely holding on with his strong will to not lose.

Despite being weak,

He had dropped the expressionless face, wearing a crazed smile, and anyone who saw him could only see a maniac.

The kind of smile that didn't really show that he was crazy, but was eerie, as if he was enjoying the suffering he was inflicting on his opponent,

The same kind of smile Ken wore while he put Ash on the edge during the fight, this time Ash had it on, putting all his weight on Ken, who was now weak and immobilized on the sparring platform, already close to the dark side.

At least two steps left, and he would be done.

'Just a few more seconds, '

Ash thought with his grin growing more menacing ,

He had given up on leaving Ken at the death door when he saw how helpless he had become,

'screw it … he is better off dead, the world would even be a better place '.

'That thought made him persist more, pushing his already weak body more.

Just as he thought everything was over, he suddenly felt weightless on the ground, and Ken seemed to have disappeared at the same time, even the world seemed to have gone completely dark.

At the same time, he lost all five senses, floating in darkness.

' I'm so fucking tired, '

Ash thought, plunging deeper.

It didn't feel like he was dying, but it was not soothing enough to call it sleep.

feeling weak and helpless in its embrace, Ash fell deeper.

"You are one hell of a nut job, you know that, right ? " a voice called out to Kruger, who had her back to the wall with her eyes closed,

Her expression was unreadable, mainly because she was lost in thought, but with the arrival of the person whom she didn't expect, it was obvious that her day was going to be more tiring.

"What is it, old man? " It's not usual for you to come out of the tear at this time, " she asked, giving him an odd stare,

watching,

As a man who looked like one in his early thirties, dressed in the usual military fashion,

He looked older with hair that had turned grey from stress, and dark eyes that were like those of the abyss.

His looks weren't that much, but he had a weird vibe around him, which was almost eerie.

It wouldn't take a seer for anyone to know that he was dangerous,

Even though it looked subtle, just looking at him made everything not seem right.

" I'm not older than you by much," he said with a pause, looking at her with a mix of confusion and what looked like offense.

" Well, I'm just older by around twenty years ... that's not the point."

He said, rubbing his head, looking more confused than normal,

He walked next to her. He stood next to her before giving out a sigh.

"If you are here to give me a lecture ... I've already received an earful, and I'm not ready for yours," she said sharply,

not really dismissively,

but something close to rejection.

She seemed more tired than she usually was, having dark circles under her eyes.

She had three batches under her, one ready to leave for the main site,

The second batch was joining the advanced division, while the last batch was joining a new division in a few days.

and not adding her own division that she has to handle and train,

She was seriously tired and needed a proper sleep,

She had dark circles under her eyes.

She took a tin of cigarettes to relieve the stress she was going through, only for it to be completely encased in ice.

"We had an agreement about smoking," he said. This time, he was most likely amused.

"You agreed to fix it ..... I thought you were making progress. If you want, I can get you your favorite kind of coffee, " the man said.

His expression was unimpressed, not matching his tone.

Kruger just dropped her hand, looking at the ceiling, eyes looking tired and droopy, and obviously weak, lacking the usual fierceness.

"What do you need ?…. I'm pretty much sure that you are not that free for an idle chat," she asked weakly, still looking at the ceiling, lacking the will and strength to engage in any conversation.

He gave her a complicated look before releasing a low breath.

"It's about the kid."
