Chapter 80 - Chapter 80

The wind, became more strong, as if fighting against it self. A drop of water fell from the sky . As it reached someone's skin, it burnt like acid eating at the skin as the person starts to shout. What started like a little drizzle , became a heavy acid rain. Suddenly shrieks were heard and what the villagers saw made their veins want to pop with fear.

The air shattered violently as the first scream ripped through the quiet night. A figure burst from the darkness near the village square, its body twisted at unnatural angles as it let out a blood-curdling shriek that echoed off rooftops.

"By the gods!" a man yelled from his doorway, grabbing a kitchen knife. "Those aren't people anymore!"

More creatures emerged from the shadows - some crawling on all fours like beasts, others walking upright with jerky movements that defied human anatomy. Their eyes glowed with an eerie light in the dim moonlight.

"They're everywhere!" someone screamed from across the street. "They're coming from the woods!"

Panic erupted simultaneously across multiple households as parents rushed to lock windows and barricade doors while children wailed in terror. The once-peaceful neighborhood had transformed into a battlefield of desperate survival against unseen horrors.

The acid rain intensified, sizzling against rooftops and pavement as it fell. People who stepped outside to investigate the new horror found themselves shrieking in agony as their skin blistered and peeled away under the corrosive droplets.

At the palace, everything was calm everyone went about their evening routine unaware of the chaos happening outside the place walls.

Inside homes, families huddled together under blankets and mattresses, desperate to protect themselves from the toxic downpour. A woman's desperate cry carried through the streets as she watched her husband collapse outside their front door, his face melting away from the acid.

"Don't go outside! Stay inside and board up your windows!" a man shouted from his balcony above the chaos below. "They're attacking anyone exposed to the rain!"

The creatures moved with predatory efficiency through the village square now bathed in eerie green light from the acid sky. Some pursued fleeing villagers across open ground while others used the acid rain as cover to climb walls and break into homes through second-story windows.

"The gods have forsaken us!"Inside the opulent palace walls, life continued its normal evening rhythm. Lanterns cast warm glows across corridors where servants moved silently about their duties - polishing silver, preparing baths for the emperor's concubines, and delivering trays of food to various chambers.

Emperor Lee Chang Hao sat in his private study reviewing military reports by candlelight while Empress Cheng nursed Princess Yumi in her chambers nearby. The distant sounds of city life filtered through open windows - distant music from a tea house, the clip-clop of horse hooves on cobblestones, and the occasional shouts of guards changing shifts.

"Your Majesty," a eunuch announced softly from the doorway. "The evening meal is prepared if you wish to dine with your concubines tonight."

Chang Hao glanced up from his papers with a sigh. "Very well. Have them gather in the main dining hall within the hour."The eunuch bowed and left.

But somewhere in the palace at the guard quarters, Gen felt intense pain especially on his arm, Suddenly scotching burn spots started to appear on his arm from out of nowhere.
