Chapter 2 - Before it's Too Late

After that evening, everything felt the same… yet different.

Ayan and Mira still met every day at the same bus stop. They talked, they laughed—just like before. But somewhere between their words, a quiet silence had found its place.

Some things were no longer easy to say.

Ayan had thought about it many times—telling her how those small moments had become the best part of his day. How her smile stayed with him long after she was gone. How, without realizing it, she had become important to him.

But every time, the words stopped at his lips.

Mira, too, seemed different. She still smiled, still listened, but sometimes she drifted into silence, her eyes lost in thoughts she never shared.

One evening, as the sky turned grey again, she asked softly,

"Ayan… what if one day I don't come here anymore?"

The question caught him off guard.

He tried to laugh it off. "Then I'll just wait… until you do."

But Mira didn't smile this time.

"I'm serious," she said quietly. "What if… I have to leave?"

The rain began to fall again—slow at first, then steady.

Ayan felt something tighten in his chest. "Leave? Where?"

She looked away, watching the rain instead of him.

"My father got transferred. Another city. Soon."

For a moment, everything went silent—even the rain felt distant.

Ayan wanted to say something. Anything.

Stay. Don't go. I need you.

But all he managed was, "Oh…"

Mira finally looked at him, her eyes softer than ever.

"I didn't want to tell you like this."

The space between them felt heavier than the storm around them.

That day, they stood closer than ever—yet it felt like they were already drifting apart.

Ayan realized something then.

Time doesn't always wait for feelings to be spoken.

And sometimes… the hardest part of love is not falling into it—

but finding the courage to say it before it's too late.

The rain kept falling.

And this time, it didn't feel like a beginning.

It felt like something was about to end.
