The next day, the sky was clear.
No rain. No clouds. Just a quiet, almost uncomfortable stillness.
Ayan stood at the bus stop, his eyes fixed on the road. For the first time, he wasn't waiting for the bus.
He was waiting for her.
Minutes felt longer than ever. Every passing second made his heart beat faster. What if she didn't come? What if yesterday was already the beginning of goodbye?
And then—
Mira appeared.
Walking slowly, just like always. But today, there was something different in her eyes. Something heavier.
Ayan didn't wait.
Before fear could stop him, before doubt could take over, he stepped forward.
"Mira," he called out.
She looked up.
For a moment, neither spoke.
Then, with a deep breath, Ayan said,
"I don't want you to leave… not like this."
Mira stayed silent, her eyes searching his.
"I know I should have said this earlier," he continued, his voice unsteady, "but I was scared. Scared that things would change. That I might lose what we already have."
He paused, then finally let the words out—
"But now… I think losing you without even trying would hurt more."
The world around them faded.
No noise. No people. Just two hearts standing in the middle of a moment that had been waiting to happen.
"I like you, Mira," Ayan said softly.
"No… I think I've fallen for you."
The words hung in the air—simple, honest, real.
Mira's eyes shimmered slightly. She looked down for a second, then back at him.
"You took so long," she whispered.
Ayan blinked, surprised. "What?"
A small, emotional smile appeared on her lips.
"I was waiting for you to say it."
His heart skipped a beat.
"I thought… maybe I was the only one feeling this way," she continued. "And I was scared too."
Ayan let out a soft laugh, filled with relief and disbelief.
"So… you're not leaving?"
Mira shook her head gently.
"I still have to go."
The happiness paused—but didn't break.
She stepped a little closer.
"But that doesn't mean this ends here," she said softly. "Not if we don't let it."
Ayan looked at her, understanding slowly settling in.
Love wasn't always about staying in the same place.
Sometimes, it was about holding on… even when distance tried to pull you apart.
He smiled.
"Then we won't let it end."
Mira smiled back.
And even without the rain,
it felt like the beginning of something just as beautiful.
