Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Girl Returns Home

The key slid into the lock, turning one and a half times with a crisp click. The familiar yet unfamiliar room came into the girl's view.

She put away the key, bent down, and found a pair of rabbit slippers labeled'Stupid Sister' from the shoe cabinet.

Seeing the label, a helpless expression appeared on the girl's face. Her sister was still the same, not giving her older sister any face at all.

The room was extremely neat and clean, with everything meticulously placed where it should be, almost identical to how it was arranged when the girl left a few years ago.

Her sister was still in school, and she, as the older sister, didn't even know which school her sister attended. The girl sighed and walked to her own room.

Pushing open the door, the room didn't look like it had been uninhabited for years; on the contrary... it was full of life?

The bedding on the bed was neatly folded, and the clothes in the wardrobe were almost in their original positions.

"I'm back," the girl's cherry lips parted slightly, a barely audible sound drifting from her mouth.

"You should go rest. If this continues, I'm afraid your spirit will break before your body does." Her old friend's earnest advice still echoed in the girl's ears.

Rest?

Her scarlet eyes were full of confusion. Did she really have the right to rest?

The foreign races still lurked on the edge of the world, restless. The current Human World did not yet have the capital to confront those foreign race powerhouses.

Even though she had turned the vast majority of foreign race monarchs into former monarchs a few years ago, the most dangerous monarch had escaped from her grasp.

The Demon King, Leticia Inferno.

This had always been a knot in the girl's heart. When she finally found time to deliver another blow to that girl to turn her into a former Demon King, she found that she couldn't find the Demon King anywhere.

Not only her, but even the Demon Race themselves didn't know where the Demon King had gone.

"Hoo..." The girl lay on the soft bed, letting her snow-white long hair spread out. "Leticia should be out of school by now."

She wondered what kind of expression her sister would have when she saw her. Would it be joy, or anger?

The girl didn't know, but having lost half the meaning of her life, the remaining half was to watch her sister grow up safely.

Time passed minute by minute, and the blood-red sunlight gradually dyed the girl's room.

Why hasn't she returned yet?

She should have been out of school long ago. Her sister wasn't a bad kid; she wouldn't be fooling around outside... So, what happened?

"I need to go look for her."

Floating up from the bed like a martial arts master in a TV show, the girl took out her phone, which she had barely used.

She dialed a number. After only half a ring, the call was answered. "Grandma, ran into trouble?"

"Help me find out where my sister is right now," the girl said directly, without wasting words.

The woman on the other end of the phone paused. "Your sister?"

"Yes, my sister."

"Didn't your sister go home?"

"How do you know?" The girl frowned.

"Your sister is our key protection target. There are at least ten people secretly protecting her on her way to and from school every day. How do you think I know?" The woman snorted. "Although your identity is top secret, we still have to prepare for the worst."

The girl fought day and night on the front lines for humanity. Those of them who enjoyed the benefits in the rear couldn't possibly fail to protect her family, could they?

"Don't worry, your sister should be downstairs in your building. You two are the only households in this building, and your sister often goes to play with the little girl downstairs."

"Is that so?" The girl walked out of her room. Since it was her sister's friend, she, as the older sister, naturally had to meet her.

"Why would I lie to you? I have things to do, so I'm hanging up now."

The call ended. The girl put her phone back in her pocket and walked downstairs step by step.

Knock, knock, knock. She knocked a few times on the bronze-colored door, completely oblivious to the white doorbell next to it. The girl was currently thinking about what kind of expression to use when facing her sister's friend.

She couldn't be too serious, nor too frivolous; she had to smile... but the girl couldn't smile. She had even forgotten how to smile.

In simpler terms, she had a poker face.

Creak... The door opened a small crack, and a beautiful girl in a maid outfit revealed a pair of wary eyes from behind the door.

"You are...?"

"I am Leticia's sister." The girl pointed upstairs, explaining earnestly, "I've been on a business trip outside and couldn't be with Leticia."

Luna blinked. So Miss Leticia had an older sister? Why had she never mentioned it?

As for whether the girl was lying? Luna didn't doubt it. This girl clearly wasn't the type to lie.

Look at that poker face. Could a liar be like that?

"Yes, please come in. Miss Leticia is a very cute girl." Though not as cute as Her Majesty, of course.

"Leticia... is indeed very cute." The two reached a consensus from a strange angle.
