Chapter 15 - Head Ache

I felt terrible.

My head was thick and heavy when I came to, and the groan that left me was involuntary. The room was dark and my eyes struggled to make sense of anything for a few seconds.

I tried to push myself upright and felt a small wave of relief when I registered that I was not in a medical room. There was an IV line running into my hand and I was wearing a hospital gown, and someone had put my arm in a sling, which I looked down at with a grimace. So doctors had been here. They had seen me and changed my clothes while I was out.

I swallowed and took in my surroundings. It was my own room, which was something at least. A glass of water sat on the nightstand. Nothing else in the space suggested anything unusual had happened. The scent lingering in the sheets told me Lucie had been here. There was a faint trace of bleach drifting from the bathroom and the bedding beneath me was not what I had slept in the night before.
