The moment we stepped into Alex's room, I let out a deep sigh of relief.
The tension that had been sitting heavily on my shoulders eased ever so slightly.
At least there were no roses, no petals scattered across the floor.
For the first time since arriving at the Bloodfang Pack, I felt as though I could breathe properly.
The door clicked shut behind us.
Almost immediately, Alex turned toward me.
"I'm sorry, Ella," he said softly, as there was genuine concern on his face as he studied my expression. "Can you let me know what it was in the room that got you upset?" he asked, taking a cautious step closer. "So I don't repeat the mistake again."
I almost scoffed.
The urge was so strong that I had to bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself.
Really?
Now he wanted to know what upset me?
Now he wanted to understand my dislikes?
The irony was almost laughable.
It wasn't as though I hadn't told him countless times in the past.
