Chapter 23 - 23

Chapter 23 Ruthless and Silent

"Of course we can't let them take the door down. I have an idea." Yu Miaomiao blinked. "Let's just leave the door open. It'll be a hassle to put it back together if it gets taken down."

"What kind of new tactic is this? Are you trying to stage an empty city ploy? We can confront you head-on, whether it's firepower or force."

Yu Miaomiao's wildly imaginative ideas left Lu An somewhat helpless. Leaving the door open meant losing a layer of defense, which was a very dangerous act.

"Of course we should confront them head-on, but we don't have to do it on our own doorstep."

Playing with these few cannon fodder is just a cat-and-mouse game, a trivial matter of making an example of them. She doesn't want her doorstep to become a battlefield; these small matters can be resolved in the stairwell.

As night fell, several shadowy figures crept stealthily to the 17th-floor stairwell, intending to break down the door, but the door creaked open by itself...

The group exchanged bewildered glances. Yuan Lixuan, ever the obsequious one, asked, "Brother Qiang, did those two women hear something and run away?"

"Are you saying there are informants within our ranks?"

Zhang Fengqiang's gaze swept across the faces of the people present. Everyone was more or less afraid and secretly avoided his eyes.

Only He Liang stared straight at him. Zhang Fengqiang thought to himself that if there was a traitor, it must be this kid. This kid was like an ungrateful wolf. He should find an excuse to get rid of him after a while. He always felt uneasy having him around.

"Stop dawdling, go up and take a look." Zhang Fengqiang grabbed a man by the collar and pulled him up, gesturing for him to go and see what was going on.

If those two women ran away, their trip would have been in vain. However, the guards on duty today didn't report anyone entering or leaving the building. Besides, it seems those two women also have a dog. How could they possibly escape unnoticed? Even if they did run away, I heard they have a lot of supplies and couldn't possibly take them all. In any case, they won't leave empty-handed today.

Just thinking about dogs made his mouth water; he hadn't eaten fresh meat in a long time.

The man sent to investigate walked timidly around the corner and disappeared from everyone's sight. He didn't return for a long time, and Zhang Fengqiang grew impatient. "Damn it, is that little bastard going to eat alone?"

He couldn't resist any longer and strode upstairs.

He had just reached the corner when a dark gun barrel was pressed against his forehead. The unlucky guy who had just gone up lay sprawled on the ground, already gone to another world.

The brothers following behind were also blocked at the entrance of the building, unable to move forward or backward, because there was also a gun pointed at them from behind.

"Who are you trying to fool with that toy gun?" Zhang Fengqiang's son has a lot of toys, and nowadays children's toy guns are made to look more realistic than the real thing. He doesn't believe he'll encounter anyone with a real gun in China.

"Bang..." A gunshot rang out, and a bloody hole exploded in his forehead.

Zhang Fengqiang never expected to be killed off so quickly, without even getting to say his second line.

"It's a real gun, she really has a gun." Yuan Lixuan was standing closest to Zhang Fengqiang, and blood splattered all over his head. The remaining men turned around and tried to run downstairs. Yuan Lixuan, who was standing there stunned, was also dragged downstairs by Yuan Yong, where they were blocked by Lu An, who had been hiding downstairs.

He Liang stood among the group of people, his expression also somewhat shocked. He had thought that these two had some tricks up their sleeves, but he hadn't expected them to be so cunning.

Just when he thought it was all over, two more gunshots rang out, and the Yuan father and son fell to the ground.

She had avenged Tuanzi and Yuanzi in her previous life. She, the cat owner, had failed to protect them in her previous life, and she would never be soft-hearted again in this life.

This was also part of tonight's plan. She had been worried about not having a chance to deal with them, so she decided to take care of them today to avoid future troubles. Some people were just wasting food by living another day, so it was better to send them on their way sooner.

"Hey, take these two bodies away and clean this place up for me. If you don't clean it up properly, you'll all die together."

Yu Miaomiao was already a little sleepy, but she still had to coordinate with the timing of this group of cannon fodder.

"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes..." The group nodded vigorously. They had been following Zhang Fengqiang for over a month, eating and drinking for free. Zhang Fengqiang would kill and rob, and they would follow behind to dispose of the bodies and collect the supplies. It could be said that they were already skilled and adept at disposing of corpses.

Although they followed Zhang Fengqiang, it was all out of necessity for survival, due to Zhang Fengqiang's mad and eccentric nature.

Now that Zhang Fengqiang is dead, they no longer need to fight this ruthless and taciturn woman with a gun for Zhang Fengqiang's sake. They can go back and divide the supplies. Finally, they don't have to live a life of licking blood off the knife. The group breathed a sigh of relief.

The group carried the body downstairs, not forgetting to greet Yu Miaomiao and Lu An downstairs, "Big sisters, we're leaving now, please forgive us."

The comical expressions of the group almost made Yu Miaomiao's serious expression crumble. She only breathed a sigh of relief when the group finally disappeared from sight.

He Liang, who was walking at the back, turned back to thank them and then left.

"You're welcome."

Lu An went back upstairs, and the two closed the door. Lu An patted Ma Jiang's big head. This time, she was no longer panicked when facing murder. If it wasn't them who killed Zhang Fengqiang today, then it was Zhang Fengqiang who came to kill them.

Seeing Yu Miaomiao's ruthless and taciturn demeanor, she even felt a pang of sympathy. Ever since she had known this girl, she had always been delicate and had never argued with anyone. She did everything slowly and methodically. What had she experienced in the apocalypse of her previous life to be so decisive when killing?

"Next time I encounter this situation, I'll take action. By the way, I just saw Liu Pei and He Xin from the 16th floor downstairs. They wanted to help, but I stopped them."

Looking at Yu Miaomiao, who was frantically petting cats and dogs and embracing two women, Lu An made up his mind.

"No need, our tent neighbors are quite nice... they don't bother us, they're not curious, and they can even help out occasionally."

"No, aren't you being a little too protective of me? I'm clearly the one who's in charge of the fighting!"

"No, An'an, there's a long road ahead, plenty of opportunities, and it's never been me protecting you, but rather us fighting side by side."

The next day, word spread throughout the building that the 17th floor was home to a ruthless gangster who was not to be trifled with, armed, and killed without blinking an eye.

Lin Miaorong never expected that Zhang Fengqiang and the Yuan family would fail and die at the hands of Yu Miaomiao, and the situation inside the building changed instantly.

On the 13th floor, only Zhang Fengqiang's wife and children, Lin Miaorong, and He Liang remained.

Without Zhang Fengqiang's protection, the remaining brothers divided up the supplies on the 13th floor and returned to their respective homes. With these supplies, they could survive for quite some time. They had to thank the two big sisters for the good life they had today in the apocalypse.

They even went to Yu Miaomiao and Lu An's house to pledge their loyalty, expressing their willingness to follow the big sisters and that they also wanted to be good people. However, they were rejected. The big sisters are indeed big sisters, with principles.

Although He Liang remained on the 13th floor, he would never touch Lin Miaorong, and Lin Miaorong returned to the days of hunger and thirst she had endured.

Hatred surged even higher. While she was painfully selling herself, Yu Miaomiao could enjoy life in luxury. While she was starving, Yu Miaomiao could have a constant supply of delicious food. Why should she let this woman who had caused her so much suffering go unpunished?
