Chapter 23 - Chapter-22 : Mira's Memory Drive

The group gathered in the old auditorium, dust and broken chairs scattered around. Mira stood at the center, hands glowing faintly, her eyes closed.

"This is risky," she said quietly. "I'll try to dive into my memories… into the fragments the faceless creature shares with me. If I can understand its patterns, we can plan our next strike. But if I fail… the shadows might sense it and attack immediately."

Lara raised her chair like a sword. "Step one: courage! Step two: chaos! Step three: optional snacks!"

Felix groaned. "Step four: why do I even exist right now?"

Kai quickly took position, chalk diagrams in hand. "We'll monitor. Timing and coordination are critical. Everyone else, stay ready to defend her if anything goes wrong."

Chloe and Liam placed protective symbols on the floor, guiding the energy flow. Emily and Jordan flanked the sides, alert for any shadow movement.

Sarah held the cube tightly. "Mira, we're ready. Focus."

Mira inhaled deeply, and suddenly the glow of her hands expanded, filling the auditorium with pale light. Her body shimmered, and she sank slightly as if floating above the ground.

"I'm in," she whispered. "I can see… the school… my memories… and the faceless creature. It's everywhere and nowhere."

Lara immediately bounced forward. "Ooh! Step four: drama! Step five: comedy! Step six: snacks! Step seven: don't touch the psychic floating girl unless you want… weird consequences!"

Felix groaned, holding his broomstick like a cross between a weapon and a life preserver. "Why do I even live in this timeline?"

Mira's glow intensified, showing flickers of hallways, classrooms, and shadowy figures moving like smoke. "The creature… it reacts to my thoughts, my fear… but also my courage. If I focus, I can anticipate its next move."

Kai scanned the diagrams. "We can use her connection. If we predict its patterns, we can manipulate the shadows' movement, funneling them into controlled zones."

Sarah nodded. "Then this memory dive isn't just about understanding—it's tactical. It's preparation for a bigger trap."

Suddenly, a shadow lunged from the corner of the auditorium. Emily screamed, but the cube pulsed, pushing it back.

Lara immediately shouted a pun. "Why don't shadows ever lie? Because you can see right through them! Ha!"

Even Felix flinched slightly, though he muttered, "I hate her, but that… kind of worked."

Mira's glow stabilized. "I've learned enough… but the faceless creature knows I'm probing. It will adapt faster now. We have limited time to set our next trap."

Chloe whispered, "The twins' knowledge plus Mira's insight… we can finally coordinate a major strike. But it has to be perfect."

Lara spun dramatically. "Step eight: epic victory! Step nine: comedy chaos! Step ten: snacks!"

Felix groaned, "I hate this."

I looked at all of them, realizing the stakes had just escalated. The faceless creature was smarter now, shadows more dangerous, and the next encounter would be the hardest yet.

But we were ready—or as ready as we'd ever be.
