Chapter 29 - Chapter 28: The Classification of Devil Fruits

Inside the Devil Fruit shop—

"That background is fake."

"Say that again!"

"Fake, huh?!"

The young streamer—clearly a guy in his twenties, yet somehow giving off the energy of a boomer trying to prove himself—made a dramatic move to defend his honor.

With a flourish, he hurled the bucket behind him into the crystal-clear river.

Splash!

The water looked real enough.

The problem was… the bucket got carried off by the current.

"Holy shit!"

In the next second, the more stylishly he'd thrown it, the more pathetically he had to scramble after it.

Watching the guy panic and run after the bucket, Rorschach burst out laughing.

Idiotic people on the internet really did know how to entertain.

That said, the scenery in the video really was gorgeous.

So gorgeous it almost looked unreal.

No wonder people thought the background had to be fake.

"Boss!"

Right as he was lazily scrolling through short videos, a voice suddenly called out.

It was Wesley.

The same Wesley who had just bought the Bullet Fruit not long ago.

And this time, he wasn't alone.

Beside him stood a bald man in a white suit, his size so exaggerated it bordered on absurd.

Wilson Fisk.

Rorschach recognized him at a glance.

A flicker of excitement rose in his heart.

Now this was a big customer.

Still, none of that showed on his face. He calmly put down his phone and greeted them with a smile.

"Mr. Wesley, welcome back. Gentlemen, please come in."

After exchanging a brief greeting with Rorschach, Wesley immediately introduced the man beside him.

"Boss, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Fisk."

"Wilson Fisk."

Kingpin extended a hand.

That massive frame alone carried a natural sense of pressure.

"Mr. Fisk, welcome to the shop."

Rorschach shook his hand politely.

But with the cheat-level advantage he now possessed and the perspective that came with it, even facing a figure like Fisk, he remained completely calm.

At most, he felt a little curious.

That was all.

In his eyes, Deadpool, Kingpin, Helen Cho, or some random passerby weren't fundamentally that different.

"Boss, Wesley's Bullet Fruit was truly astonishing. I never would have believed something as miraculous as Devil Fruits could really exist in this world."

"So I couldn't resist coming in person. I wanted to see it for myself."

Kingpin didn't waste time on meaningless pleasantries. The moment greetings were out of the way, he got straight to the point.

"So, Boss… could I trouble you to introduce them to me?"

"Of course."

Rorschach readily agreed.

"Since you've already witnessed the Bullet Fruit, Mr. Fisk, that saves me quite a bit of explanation."

He gestured toward the display case.

"As you can see, these are the Devil Fruits. And just like with Mr. Wesley, eating one will grant the user all kinds of extraordinary abilities."

Following Rorschach's words, Fisk's gaze settled on the bizarre, colorful fruits in the display case.

A trace of surprise appeared on his face.

He clearly hadn't expected Devil Fruits to look this strange.

If he hadn't already seen the miracles that happened to Helen Cho and Wesley with his own eyes, there was no way he would've casually put something so weird into his mouth.

"They really are extraordinary fruits."

Fisk nodded, genuinely impressed.

"Honestly, if you put aside ordinary prejudice and ignorance, they're actually quite beautiful, aren't they?" Rorschach said with a smile.

"That's true. They look like works of art."

Wesley chimed in immediately, completely serious.

Whether he truly believed that or was simply backing up Rorschach was anyone's guess.

"This world is full of people who are ignorant and blind," Fisk said slowly. "They lack the wisdom to recognize truly beautiful things. But that isn't their fault. Not everyone is fortunate enough to encounter something genuinely extraordinary."

He paused, his eyes still on the display case.

"I consider myself lucky."

"Lucky to have this chance to come face-to-face with something as miraculous as Devil Fruits."

Rorschach had to admit it—

people who did great things really did speak differently.

He honestly hadn't expected a crime boss like Kingpin to casually drop something that sounded so lofty and profound.

But when he thought about it, the man wasn't entirely wrong.

Devil Fruits really did come down to luck.

Or fate.

After all, there was only one shop in the entire world that sold them.

And on top of that, they existed completely outside the limits of ordinary understanding, which meant most people instinctively doubted them.

In that kind of situation, the people who could actually believe in Devil Fruits—and buy them—really did need a certain kind of fate.

Or as Fisk put it, a certain kind of opportunity.

"Mr. Fisk, Devil Fruits won't disappoint you."

Rorschach smiled faintly.

"I'm sure what concerns you most is what kinds of abilities they can offer. So I'll focus on that."

"At present, the Devil Fruits in this shop can be divided into two major categories based on their attributes: Animal-Type and Paramecia-Type."

"Animal-Type Fruits are easy enough to understand. As the name suggests, they grant the user the traits and abilities of a certain animal."

"But at the same time, they also cause the body to undergo animal-based transformation."

"To put it simply, they allow a person to transform into an animal."

"Of course, that transformation only affects the body. It doesn't alter the user's mind or sense of self."

"For example, the Ox-Ox Fruit: Bison Model currently in stock allows the user to take on a bison form, gaining a bison's strength, physical power, and endurance."

Rorschach first gave a brief introduction to Animal-Type Devil Fruits.

But in a world like Marvel—not One Piece—most people instinctively resisted the idea of turning into an animal.

So he only touched on it lightly before moving on to the more important category.

"Paramecia-Type Devil Fruits are fruits that grant all sorts of superhuman abilities. Mr. Wesley's Bullet Fruit is one of them."

"And besides the Bullet Fruit, the shop also carries many others. For example, the Dice-Dice Fruit can turn the user's body into blades. The Spring-Spring Fruit can turn the user's body into springs."

As he spoke, Rorschach picked up the catalog and casually pointed out two examples on the page.

Sure enough—

Kingpin's interest deepened immediately.

In fact, when his eyes landed on certain fruits, the reaction in them became obvious.

Excitement.

Interest.

A genuine pull.

Clearly, some of these fruits were hitting exactly where it mattered.

"Boss," Wesley asked from the side, listening intently, "besides Animal-Type and Paramecia-Type, are there any other categories of Devil Fruits?"
