Jayjay's POV
Where am I sleeping?
I slowly opened my eyes, blinking against the light. The first thing I noticed was that my cheek was pressed flat against Keifer's broad chest. My arms were wrapped securely around his waist, while his long arms were wrapped tightly around mine, his head resting lightly on top of mine. I was completely lying on top of Keifer while he was stretched out beneath me.
I was trying to remember how on earth we ended up like this when Keifer suddenly shifted, tightening his grip and pulling me even harder against him.
"Hoi!" I snapped, bringing my fist down to punch his chest.
"Five more minutes..." he mumbled sleepily into my hair, not loosening his grip even an inch.
"Keifer, I need to breathe, you idiot!" I yelled, punching his chest a second time.
I raised my head and looked around the room. My eyes widened in shock. The entire squad was passed out everywhere—lying on the floor, slumped over tables, or thrown across chairs. Keifer and I were crashed on the main living room sofa.
"You can breathe from my mouth," he said, opening one dark eye and smirking down at me.
I tilted my head, my jaw dropping. "You... you..."
Why the hell did I just lose my voice?! I glared at him with my face burning red, but he just let out a low, amused chuckle. He loosened his grip just a tiny bit, and I took the split-second chance to try and jump off that jerk.
But the idiot was way too fast. He sat up instantly, wrapped his arms back around my waist, and hoisted me right onto his lap.
"Keifer, they're going to wake up!" I whisper-shouted, swatting at his arms, but he completely ignored me and buried his face into the crook of my neck.
I looked around the room again and noticed something. Freya, Mica, Honey, Rakki, Ella, and Sakki weren't out here on the furniture with their guys.
"Where are the other couples?" I asked, frowning.
"They went to their rooms," he mumbled against my skin, his lips brushing slightly against my collarbone, sending a sudden shiver right down my spine.
"Then why aren't we in our room?!" I demanded.
"Because you refused to move," he said calmly. "You literally kicked me in front of everyone."
My face instantly flared hot. "I did not kick you!"
"You did," he insisted, pulling back to look at me. "You were drunk, so obviously you don't remember."
"I don't remember getting drunk at all!" I protested.
Before I could say another word, Keifer suddenly stood up, scooping me into a tight bridal carry. My hands instinctively shot out to grab onto his shoulders for balance.
"Because you have the memory of a goldfish," he said smoothly, turning around and walking straight toward the grand staircase.
I immediately crossed my arms over my chest, letting go of his shoulders in defiance. "I can walk!"
"Can you?" he asked smoothly.
I swung my leg and kicked his side, but it didn't even faze him—it only made him let out a deep laugh.
"Yes I can! Put me down!" I barked, punching his chest again.
He just laughed again, completely ignoring my protests until we reached our bedroom. Keifer kicked the door shut behind us, walked over to the king-sized bed, and tossed me gently onto the mattress. Before I could scramble away, he lay down right beside me, wrapping his heavy arms around my waist and pulling me flush against his chest.
"What actually happened last night?!" I asked, thoroughly irritated now.
"You and Freya were doing a challenge," he said, looking at me with a straight face.
I glared at him. "I don't remember, you idiot."
"Wow. Yesterday I was 'hubby,' and now I'm an 'idiot,'" he said, his voice full of sarcasm.
"Can you just tell me what happened?!" I asked, trying to force myself to calm down.
Keifer leaned upward and pressed a sweet, soft kiss onto the center of my forehead.
"First, you need to calm down," he said, offering a small smile.
"That's not how you calm a person down!" I huffed.
"Then how do we calm a person down?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"By telling them what they're asking for!" I snapped.
He finally nodded in agreement. "Fine, fine. Sit still," Keifer chuckled, propping himself up on one elbow and looking down at me with an amused glint in his dark eyes.
"I am sitting still! Now talk," I demanded, crossing my arms tightly over my chest and glaring at him.
"Alright. So last night, after everyone else was hanging out downstairs, you and Freya suddenly decided you wanted to test whose husband had a higher pain tolerance," Keifer started, keeping his face completely deadpan and serious.
My eyes went wide. "What?!"
"Yeah," he nodded, maintaining a straight face with superhuman control. "Freya kicked Edrix's shin, and you looked right at me, said, 'My hubby is tougher than yours,' and full-on drop-kicked my leg right where my stitches were healing."
My jaw hit the mattress. "I... I did what?!"
"You heard me," he smirked, leaning closer. "You even yelled, 'Take that, evil spirits!' while doing it."
"I DO NOT TALK LIKE THAT!" I shrieked, my face burning so ridiculously hot I felt like I was going to melt into the sheets. "Are you seriously making this up right now?!"
Keifer finally broke, bursting into a loud, deep laugh that vibrated through the mattress. He quickly wrapped both arms around me to stop my fists from raining down on his arm again.
"Okay, okay! You got me. You didn't kick me because of a challenge," he admitted, still grinning like an absolute idiot.
"Then why did I kick you?!" I glared up at him, my cheeks still flaming red.
"So basically..."
[Flashback]
Keifer'sPOV
Aries, Percy, Yuri, Edrix, and I were standing near the kitchen counter, casually talking about some random underground stuff, when a sudden wave of loud cheering broke out from the living room.
We all turned around at the same time and found Jayjay and Freya sitting across from each other at the center table, slamming back shot after shot of heavy liquor.
"Go Barakuda! Go!" Section E was shouting around them like wild apes.
"Queen Bee versus Barakuda! Let's see who wins!" Ci-N yelled dramatically at the top of his lungs, holding the TV remote right up to his mouth like a sports commentator microphone. Almost all of them were completely smashed.
"This is insane," Yuri muttered, rubbing his temples.
"Absolutely insane," Percy added, shaking his head.
"What the hell is wrong with those two?" Aries asked, glaring at his sister.
"They're drunk," I replied simply, my eyes narrowing as I watched Jayjay tilt another glass back.
"And they're drinking even more," Edrix added, letting out a frustrated sigh.
I nodded in agreement. We just stood there in disbelief, staring at Jayjay and Freya, who kept pouring shot after shot without a single hesitation. Neither of them was willing to back down first.
Eventually, both of them slammed their final empty glasses onto the wooden table at the exact same time. They were completely wasted—cheeks bright pink, eyes heavy and half-closed, struggling just to keep a grip on their empty glasses.
I walked straight over to Jayjay and gently pried the glass out of her small hand.
"That's enough," I said softly.
Jayjay blinked up at me slowly. The moment her blurry eyes focused on my face, she suddenly began clapping her hands together wildly.
"Hubby!!" she cheered, her voice a mix of loud excitement and soft, slurred giggles.
"Come on, let me take you to our room," I said gently, leaning down to lift her up into my arms.
Before I could even wrap my arms around her back, her foot shot straight out and kicked me right in the stomach.
In front of the entire squad.
"Nope," she declared popping the 'p'.
"Nope?" I repeated, raising an eyebrow at her.
She nodded aggressively. "Nope."
"Barakuda has officially awoken!" Yuri yelled from the back, and the entire room erupted into roaring laughter.
"Jayjay," I said softly, trying to shake her shoulder lightly to bring her back to reality, but she just grabbed my forearm with both hands and hugged it tightly like a teddy bear.
Beside us, Edrix walked over to Freya. Without asking, he cleanly scooped her off the chair into his arms to take her upstairs.
"My lovely hacker..." Freya mumbled sleepily into his chest, her head drooping against his shoulder.
Edrix instantly froze, his eyes widening as he looked over at the rest of us who weren't drunk. We all slowly nodded at him in silent confirmation.
I looked back down at Jayjay, only to realize she had completely passed out while still hugging my arm tight.
Around us, the room slowly began to clear out. Aries picked up a sleepy Ella and carried her off toward the guest rooms. Yuri scooped up Sakki and went to their room, while Rakki—who was still mostly sober—just walked herself back to her room. Honey was only a little tipsy, so Percy guided her carefully down the hallway. Calix and Mica had already slipped away to their room earlier.
I tried to wake Jayjay up one more time. "Jay, come on—"
PAK!
This time, my words were cut short as her open palm slapped me hard right across the cheek.
"Wifey, what are you doing?" I muttered under my breath, rubbing my stinging jaw.
Jayjay blinked up at me, her eyes still half-closed and swimming with sleepiness. She looked down at my face, then back up at my eyes.
"Hubby... why is your cheek so red?" she asked softly, reaching her small hand up to touch the exact spot she had just slapped a second ago.
She literally forgot that she slapped me two seconds ago.
"Nothing," I sighed, completely helpless against her. "Come on, let me carry you upstairs."
Instead of answering, she completely ignored my words, pulled my face down, and pressed a soft, warm kiss directly onto my sore cheek.
"Does it hurt?" she whispered innocently.
"No," I replied, utterly confused by her mood swings.
She tried to stand up on her own two feet, but her foot instantly tripped over the wooden leg of the center table. She stumbled forward, crashing straight into my chest and knocking both of us backward onto the living room sofa.
She landed directly on top of my chest, burying her face into my neck.
"I'm tired... I'm not moving anymore. Just sleep here, hubby," she mumbled sleepily against my shirt.
I looked down at her messy hair, wrapping my arms around her waist so she wouldn't roll off the couch. I knew for a fact she was going to blame me for this entire thing in the morning.
[End Of The Flashback]
Jayjay'sPOV.
As Keifer told me what happened last night, the fuzzy memories slowly flashed back into my mind. I remembered his face as a blurry image. I actually kicked him, slapped him, and then... I even kissed his cheek.
Right now, I wanted to melt directly into the mattress so Keifer wouldn't be able to see me.
I immediately pried his arms off me, grabbed the blanket, and pulled it all the way over my head until it swallowed me whole. I felt Keifer staring at the giant blanket blob I had transformed into, and a soft little chuckle escaped his lips.
"What are you doing?" he asked from above.
"Nothing," I mumbled from under the thick covers.
Suddenly, the blanket was ripped right off me, and Keifer was looking down at me with an amused expression.
"Why are you behaving like this?" he asked, sounding a little annoyed now.
"Like what?" I asked, before blurted out, "Did I really slap you that hard?!"
"Yeah, very hard," he said smoothly. "And now I want something in return."
Oh no. I knew that look in his eyes all too well.
"No, I'm not giving you anything," I said quickly.
"Hey, that's cheating," he protested.
"I just wanna sleep," I whined. I grabbed his strong arms, wrapped them back around my waist, and buried my face straight into the crook of his neck.
"I'll get that kiss later," he muttered in a low, velvety voice against my skin.
I immediately smacked his chest.
"That's the fourth time since we woke up, wifey," he said, pretending to sound offended.
"Shut up and let me sleep," I commanded.
He hummed above my head, giving in effortlessly. "Okay."
He tightened his arms around me, pulling my body flush against his chest so there wasn't a single inch of space left between us. I closed my eyes, breathing in the comforting, familiar scent of his cologne. For a few glorious minutes, the bedroom was completely quiet, and I could feel the gentle rhythm of his heartbeat right under my cheek.
"Jay?" Keifer whispered after a long moment, his thumb lightly stroking my back.
"Hmm?" I mumbled, already half-asleep again.
"Your brother called earlier while you were still passed out downstairs," he said softly.
My eyes snapped open under his chin. "Kuya Angelo? What did he say?"
"He said Tita Gemma wants us to come over for dinner tonight," Keifer replied, resting his chin on top of my head. "Just family. Section E won't be there."
I let out a soft sigh of relief. "Good. If Ci-N eats one more piece of food at our house, he's going to turn into a pancake."
Keifer let out a deep, low laugh that vibrated against my cheek. "Agreed."
He shifted slightly, adjusting his weight so he could look down into my eyes. His expression softened, all the teasing from earlier completely vanishing. He reached out with one hand, his fingers gently tucking a stray lock of hair behind my ear.
"Are you still tired?" he asked gently.
"A little," I admitted, looking up into his dark eyes. "My head hurts a tiny bit from whatever Freya and I were drinking."
"That's what happens when Queen Bee thinks she can out-drink the Barakuda," Keifer smirked, though his fingers stayed gentle as he lightly rubbed my forehead to soothe the ache. "Stay in bed. I'll go downstairs and get you some water and medicine."
Before I could tell him to just stay, he pressed a tender, lingering kiss right onto the tip of my nose. He carefully unwrapped his arms from my waist and sat up on the edge of the mattress.
"Hoi!" I called out, reaching for him, but he was already up and walking out of the bedroom.
I glanced at the clock on the bedside table—it was still only six in the morning.
I lay back down and stared blankly at the ceiling. Section E is completely going to tease me about how I kicked their king and even slapped him. Well, he's my husband first! If they don't tease me about the kick or the slap, they'll definitely tease me about the way I kept calling him 'hubby.'
I hate all those snakes, vipers, pests, cockroaches, lizards, crocodiles, worms, and monkeys.
A few minutes later, the bedroom door clicked open again.
Keifer walked back in, holding a cool glass of water in one hand and a small painkiller tablet in the other. He walked over to my side of the bed, setting the glass on the nightstand before sitting on the edge of the mattress.
"Sit up, wifey," he said softly, reaching out to help me prop myself up against the plush pillows.
I took the pill from his palm, popped it into my mouth, and drank the entire glass of water in one go. Handing the empty glass back to him, I let out a tired huff and immediately leaned forward, burying my head straight back against his chest.
"Better?" Keifer asked, his hand gently patting my back.
"My head still feels like Ci-N is banging his wooden spoon inside it," I grumbled into his shirt.
Keifer chuckled warmly, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me up into his lap so I was comfortably leaning against him. "Just close your eyes and rest. The medicine will kick in soon."
"Keifer..." I mumbled, my voice muffled against his neck.
"Hmm?"
"If Section E mentions anything about last night when we go downstairs... you have to handle them," I demanded weakly. "Tell them it never happened."
"Why would I lie?" Keifer smirked, his dark eyes sparkling with amusement. "Seeing you call me 'hubby' in front of everyone was the best part of my week."
I raised my head and glared at him with my sleepy eyes. "Mark Keifer Watson, I swear—"
"Alright, alright," he interrupted softly, leaning down to kiss my forehead again to quiet me down. "I won't let them bother you. Now go back to sleep, Jay. We have a long day ahead."
I let out a soft breath, finally relaxing into his warm embrace. With the gentle rise and fall of Keifer's chest under my cheek, my headache slowly began to fade, and I drifted back into a peaceful sleep.
When I opened my eyes again, the soft morning light was streaming through the sheer curtains of our master bedroom. My hands reached out across the mattress instinctively, searching for Keifer's warm presence, but my fingers only met cold, empty bedsheets.
Frowning, I slowly pushed myself up against the plush pillows. I rubbed my eyes sleepily, my head still feeling a bit heavy and hazy.
Just as I was about to call out his name, a low, smooth voice drifted in through the open balcony doors.
I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stood up, barefoot and completely half-asleep. Dragging my feet across the soft bedroom rug, I wandered out onto the balcony where the cool morning breeze hit my warm skin.
Keifer was standing near the marble railing, wearing his grey sweatpants and black t-shirt, his dark hair still messy from sleep. He was holding his phone up to his ear, letting out a low, satisfied hum as he listened to whoever was on the other end.
Without saying a single word, I tiptoed straight up behind him, wrapped my tiny arms securely around his waist, and buried my face flat against his back.
The moment he felt my arms wrap around him, Keifer's whole body stilled for a split second. Without a moment's hesitation, he cut the phone call mid-sentence, slipped the device into his pocket, and turned around inside my embrace. My arms stayed firmly wrapped around his waist, forcing me to tilt my head up sleepily to look into his dark, handsome face.
"Why are you awake? You only slept for an hour, wifey," Keifer asked softly, a tender smile tugging at his lips as he reached down to gently ruffle my messy hair.
"You weren't there, so..." I mumbled, my voice trailing off as I buried my face straight back into his shirt, inhaling his warm, comforting scent.
Keifer let out a deep, low chuckle that vibrated against my cheek. He wrapped one arm around my shoulders, tucking me close against his chest, while his other hand gently stroked the back of my head.
"I was just taking a quick call," he murmured into my hair. "By the way... Section E and the girls left just a little while ago after grabbing a quick breakfast. Their parents kept calling them from home, so Aries dragged everyone out."
"Good," I grumbled softly into his chest. "At least I don't have to face those monkeys today."
"Hubby, my head hurts a lot..." I added, pulling back slightly to look up at him with wide, sleepy, pouting eyes.
Keifer's playful expression instantly melted into genuine concern. "Still?"
He reached up with his warm fingers, gently massaging my temples and forehead in soft, circular motions. The gentle pressure felt so heavenly that my eyes automatically fluttered shut, a soft sigh escaping my lips.
"It's still really early, Jay," Keifer whispered gently, his thumb lightly stroking my cheek. "Come on back inside. You need to sleep a little more so the hangover completely goes away."
He guided me back into the bedroom, helping me climb back under the warm blankets. Before I could pull him down with me, he pressed a lingering kiss onto my forehead.
"Stay here. I'll go downstairs and make you some hot green tea to soothe your head," he said softly.
"You know how to make green tea?" I asked, looking at him with suspicion through my heavy eyelids.
Keifer raised an eyebrow, a small smirk playing on his lips. "It's boiling water and a tea bag, Jay. I think the leader of Section E can handle that."
I let out a quiet giggle, nodding against the pillow. "Okay..."
He pulled the blanket up to my shoulders, tucked me in securely, and headed downstairs.
A few minutes later, the bedroom door clicked open again. Keifer walked back inside carrying a warm ceramic mug, the rich, soothing aroma of green tea filling the quiet room. He set the mug on the nightstand, sat down beside me on the bed, and carefully helped me sit up against his chest.
He picked up the mug, blowing gently on the hot steam before holding it up to my lips.
"Careful, it's hot," he warned softly.
I took small, gentle sips of the warm tea, feeling the heat spread comfortably down my throat and instantly easing the lingering throb behind my eyes. Keifer held the mug steadily for me, his other arm wrapped securely around my waist to keep me supported.
"Better?" he asked when I finished half the cup.
"Much better," I murmured, leaning my head back against his shoulder. "Thank you, hubby."
Keifer set the mug back on the table, shifting under the covers until he was lying flat beside me again. He pulled me flush against his chest, resting his chin on top of my head as his arms locked tightly around my waist.
"Now go to sleep for real," he whispered softly into my hair. "I'll be right here when you wake up."
"I don't want to," I muttered, pressing my face further into his chest.
"Why?" he asked, a gentle chuckle vibrating against my cheek.
"Because I already slept for more than eight hours," I said, looking up at him.
"Okay, then what do you want to do?" he asked softly, looking down into my eyes.
"Watch a drama," I said instantly.
"Okay, then you watch your drama, and I'll go get some work done," he said, starting to shift so he could stand up.
Before he could even move an inch, I wrapped my arms tightly around his waist and held him in place, refusing to let him go.
"I wanna watch it with you," I said, pouting up at him.
Keifer looked at me for a second, a soft, helpless smile spreading across his face as he gave in completely.
"Okay, wifey... but which drama?" he asked, reaching for the remote on the nightstand.
"My Husband Is A Mafia Boss," I said excitedly.
He nodded without arguing and played the first episode of My Husband Is A Mafia Boss on the big bedroom screen. Honestly, I had been planning to start this series for so long, but I never found the time. Now, I finally had the time—and my very own Keifer to operate the TV for me. Hehe.
The End 🌸.
