Inside the dimly lit Task Force HQ, the tension was thick. Light and L sat at the main computer, their wrists still linked by the titanium chain that had become a part of their daily lives.
"If the new Kira is among the Yotsuba directors," Light began, his voice calm and analytical, "we can't just walk in. We need an inside source. Someone they won't suspect, but someone who can get close to their secret meetings."
L turned his head slowly, his eyes fixing on the security feed of the lounge. "I've already thought of that, Light-kun. And the perfect candidate is already here."
[Scene 2: Misa's Role]
Misa Amane entered the room, looking as bright and energetic as ever. Since her memories of being the Second Kira were gone, she was genuinely convinced she was just helping the love of her life.
"You want me to go to an audition at Yotsuba?" Misa asked, her eyes sparkling.
"It's not just an audition, Misa-san," L said, dropping a sugar cube into his tea. "They are looking for a new face for their global campaign. It's the perfect cover for you to plant listening devices in their boardroom."
[Scene 3: The Danger of the Hunt]
Light pulled Misa aside, the chain clinking as he moved. "Misa, this is dangerous. These men are using Kira's power for profit. They won't hesitate to kill anyone who gets in their way."
Misa grabbed Light's hand. "As long as I'm helping you, Light-kun, I'm not afraid of anything!"
Light looked at her, a strange feeling of guilt passing through him—a feeling he couldn't explain, as if he knew more about her safety than he could remember.
[Scene 4: The Shadow of Higuchi]
Across the city, Kyosuke Higuchi was staring at the Death Note. He was frustrated. The Task Force was silent, and he felt like he was being watched.
"Rem," Higuchi barked at the air. "Is anyone following me? I feel like the net is closing in."
Rem, invisible to everyone else, looked at him with pure disgust. "You worry too much, Higuchi. But remember... the notebook is not a toy. If you lose focus, you lose your life."
The trap was set. Light, L, and Misa were now walking directly into the dragon's den.
