Chapter 1 - GODseed: Awakening of Manohata

God Seed

Chapter 1 – The Moment Trust Shatters

Heavy rain hammered against the cold concrete streets. A young man stood motionless in the downpour, his black coat completely soaked. Water streamed down his face, but his eyes remained dry — cold, empty, and distant.

People rushed past him with umbrellas and hurried steps, their figures blurred in the rain. No one stopped. No one looked. He was just another shadow in the city.

People always say family is the greatest source of trust…

But for me, family became the deepest wound.

Flashback

He was only eight years old.

The boy stood quietly in the corner of the dimly lit room while the adults shouted at each other. Their voices were sharp, fingers pointing wildly in every direction. No one even glanced at him.

From the very beginning, no one had ever listened to his words.

A relative suddenly turned and pointed straight at him, face twisted in anger.

"This boy is the root of all our problems!"

The boy's small body flinched. He wanted to speak, to explain, to tell the truth… but the words never left his throat. They never gave him the chance.

His father's eyes burned with fury as he glared down at him. In those red, raging eyes, the boy saw only accusation — never understanding.

That night, the boy sat alone in the middle of the room, surrounded by darkness. He didn't cry. He just sat there, head buried in his small hands, slowly realizing one painful truth:

No one here would ever stand by my side.

Even as a child, he worked like an adult — carrying heavy boxes until his back ached, handing over money only to be ignored. His efforts were never acknowledged. Never valued.

"You'll never amount to anything," a relative once sneered. "Never."

At that moment, something inside the boy changed.

The warmth in his eyes slowly drained away. The soft brown color turned cold — shifting into a sharp, icy gray. His pupils narrowed as the last fragments of trust inside him cracked and shattered like glass.

Present day

He walked through the rain with his head lowered, fists clenched tightly at his sides.

No matter how hard I try… no one ever tries to understand me.

He stopped and lifted his face toward the dark sky. Raindrops struck his eyes, yet not a single tear fell.

Then why should I live for them?

Later, he stood by the seaside as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in blood-red and orange. The strong wind whipped through his wet hair and coat.

From today… I will trust no one.

His eyes, now hard and sharp, had lost all trace of vulnerability. The rain continued to fall, but his expression remained calm — frighteningly calm.

"I won't suffer for anyone anymore. I'll live only for myself."

In front of the stormy sea, the silhouette of a lonely boy stood tall, his coat billowing wildly in the wind.

That day, inside one broken boy… a new person was born.

The boy who once trusted everyone…

now trusts only himself.

No one else.
