Chapter 37:
"You can only sleep here. Don't go anywhere else."
Sasuke looked at Naruto, who had brought his blanket and spare clothes, and pointed somewhat helplessly at the room next to his own bedroom.
There might be fewer things left in the house after the search, but blankets were one thing they definitely didn't lack.
However, Naruto had insisted that he was "used to sleeping in his own blanket"…
"Sasuke, what kind of training are we doing during this break? My body is much stronger than before…"
Naruto put away his things and ran into the courtyard to talk to Sasuke about training.
The surface reason he had given for moving in was to train together with Sasuke. As for why the Hokage had agreed…
Probably because it saved manpower — one Anbu could now monitor two targets at once.
Of course, that was just Naruto's guess. He wasn't entirely sure.
"Basic taijutsu training. Just copy whatever I do. If you can't keep up, no dinner!"
Sasuke glared at Naruto with an annoyed expression, then went back inside to organize his clothes. The upcoming training might leave them no time to wash clothes.
Still, he didn't understand why Naruto insisted on staying here.
They could already communicate perfectly through their mental link. Living together now would only make people more suspicious, right?
Because he was too embarrassed to ask directly, Sasuke's current mix of annoyance and tsundere behavior made Naruto laugh quietly in his heart.
'As expected… Sasuke, you're really cute…'
Naruto suddenly sighed in his mind, then began doing simple squats in the courtyard.
Taijutsu…
From his memories, the young Sasuke had mostly relied on basic Fire Style, shuriken, and taijutsu in fights.
Naruto was now fairly certain that the reason Sasuke didn't use many ninjutsu wasn't just because of low chakra reserves, but also because he simply hadn't learned many techniques.
Just look at this year's graduates.
Besides Sakura — the only civilian — everyone else came from clans with inherited techniques. Otherwise, they were like Naruto, a special case. Yet even Sakura's early role was mostly to stay back during fights.
The other graduates who supposedly "returned to the academy for retraining" were actually being trained as disposable fodder.
Only those who passed the jonin-sensei assessment and were taken as students belonged to the elite class.
This was the conclusion Naruto had reached after two years of quietly observing the academy graduates.
It perfectly showed how important clan inheritance was for growth.
And that brought him back to comparing with Haruno Sakura again.
She had actually worked extremely hard. During the Chunin Exams, she was the only one who could answer the written test by herself. Her effort in theoretical subjects was far beyond normal students.
In regular class assessments, she always ranked highest in theory, and her chakra control training was also better than most.
Yet because her parents were civilians, without Tsunade's later appearance, she would never have achieved much.
Even the ninjutsu Sasuke could use right after graduation were only the few basic ones his brother Itachi had taught him when he was little…
Inheritance was extremely important.
"Tonight we can only eat cup noodles. We'll get up early tomorrow to buy food, then train…"
At dinner, Sasuke came out of his room carrying a pile of instant cup noodles and placed them on the table.
There was no proper food left in the house, and neither of them knew how to cook.
"Sasuke… you're poor too…"
After eating several cups of noodles, Naruto decided that tonight he would wake up Uchiha Fugaku and Mikoto to ask where they had hidden the clan's valuables.
But even if they found money, with Anbu constantly watching, they would still need to think of another way.
