The first thing Rin noticed was the silence.
Not peaceful silence. Not the comfortable silence that sometimes settled between friends who had nothing left to say.
This silence felt... Expectant.
As though the entire world was waiting to see what he would do next.
Rin stood in the center of the ancient chamber, staring at the empty throne. The crack running through it continued to glow faintly.
The God was gone. But his final words remained.
"If you choose him again..."
"I will make you watch him die."
Rin swallowed. Noctis stood several steps away.
His long silver hair fell over his shoulders, illuminated by the strange golden light coming from beneath the floor.
Sol stood beside Rin. Aiden remained near the entrance. Nobody spoke.
Finally, Rin sighed.
"So."
Sol glanced at him.
"So?"
"We're going back."
"Yes."
"To the fortress."
"Yes."
"Where Kaelith probably thinks I've been kidnapped by an ancient god."
Sol nodded.
"Probably."
Rin scratched his head.
