Zoe Rhodes was filled with regret.
At this point, she would have preferred it if Nathan Bennett had sought her out for hiring an actor to slander him.
The fake engagement had been the furthest thing from her mind ever since she'd returned.
She never imagined it would lead to this.
Zoe Rhodes suddenly felt a massive headache coming on.
"I thought that since we hadn't seen or contacted each other in so long, we had tacitly agreed to call off our arrangement..." Zoe's voice trailed off as she met Nathan Bennett's gaze, her confidence faltering. "...right?"
Nathan Bennett lowered his gaze. He had long eyelashes, and combined with the glasses he wore, it was difficult to discern the emotion in his eyes.
Zoe Rhodes held her breath, feeling like she was on pins and needles.
'Seriously, I really want to jump out of this car.'
'But this door handle... why! won't! it! MOVE!?!'
