The hotel.
When the knock came, Zoe Rhodes was trying to figure out how to charge her phone.
There was a wireless charger on the nightstand, but her phone wasn't reacting when she placed it on top.
Hearing the knock, she instinctively assumed it was Donovan Donovan.
Thinking of her retaliatory teasing in the elevator earlier, she rubbed her nose sheepishly.
Knowing Donovan's petty nature, he was most likely here to get even.
Zoe Rhodes said a silent prayer for herself.
Still, she didn't regret it.
'If I could do it again, I'd still curse him out!'
She figured if she didn't answer, Donovan would give up after a bit. But after only a moment of silence, the knocking started again, even faster than before.
Zoe felt that if this continued, their neighbors would probably complain. So, she put on the hotel's flimsy paper slippers and shuffled toward the door.
"Stop knocking!" she warned in a harsh whisper. "Keep it down! Have you no decency, this late at night?"
