Zoe Rhodes took a day off. After returning from the airport, she bought some food and went back to her dorm to rest.
After washing up and climbing into bed, her phone buzzed several times in a row before falling silent.
She opened it to see messages from Nathan Bennett.
At the top was Ethan Rhodes's medical report from the past week, followed by two or three photos of him from different angles, and a video that was a full minute long.
She played the video. The background was quiet, with only the sound of medical equipment running. It was probably filmed secretly, so the angle was a bit off, but it didn't matter.
Zoe lay on her stomach, watching the video carefully. In the end, she couldn't resist saving it, then slowed down the playback speed and watched it several more times.
It was different from the distant glimpse she had caught the last time she saw him.
This secret recording was much closer, right by the bedside. She could even count Ethan's eyelashes.
