The skin around the IV puncture started to itch. She scratched it vigorously, then lowered her head and pretended to be busy, trying to bluff her way out of it.
Donovan didn't rush her. He simply leaned against the side of the car in a lazy posture, watching her with his gaze lowered.
He looked just like someone teaching a toddler how to say their first full sentence, his gaze gentle and endlessly patient.
'This is completely unlike him.'
With that scorching gaze fixed on her, Zoe really wanted to turn and run.
