Zoe Rhodes could feel the swaying shadows of the trees around her fall still the moment she finished speaking.
She scratched her cheek in embarrassment, her gaze darting away as she mumbled an excuse. "I was young back then... It wasn't on purpose."

Simon Carson stared at the blush on her face for a few seconds before deciding to move past the topic of the birthmark.
"He just woke up. His body hasn't recovered yet, so he can't speak or get out of bed."
"He won't be able to see you for a while."
