Simon Carson had been a criminal detective for two years and considered his counter-surveillance skills to be pretty decent. 'Even if I can't compare to a top professional, I should be better than some young girl, right?'
But thinking back, he genuinely couldn't recall Zoe Rhodes secretly taking his picture.
With the evidence so undeniable, it was impossible to talk his way out of it.
He was once again forced to re-evaluate this girl.
The police had been cracking down on cases like this in recent years. Paired with her tear-streaked, utterly deceptive face, the officers hadn't given him a single pleasant look the entire way.
At a glance, it looked like he was about to get a taste of life in a Capella holding cell.
This was because he couldn't afford to stir up trouble that would reach Porten; the old man would find out too easily.
But… this situation wasn't impossible to resolve.
