As a child, Zoe Rhodes was the one with the delicate constitution, but it was Ethan Rhodes, who had only recently joined the Rhodes family, who fell seriously ill.
Zoe Rhodes remembered it clearly. When she got home from kindergarten, she heard the housekeeper say Ethan had a fever again.
"Mr. Miller!" She happened to see the family doctor coming out of Ethan's room as she ran upstairs.
Mr. Miller acknowledged her and told her to keep her distance. "We need to have the area disinfected."
"Why?"
"Because Ethan's been infected with a virus."
"So that's why my brother has been sick all this time?"
"Yes. Zoe, you shouldn't go into Ethan's room for the time being. He needs to be quarantined for a while."
Back then, she didn't understand what "quarantine" meant.
She only remembered her mother telling her to be nice to her brother. So, after a week of not seeing Ethan, she snuck into the room next door one night.
