Under the covers, Zoe Rhodes clamped a hand over her mouth, desperately trying to stifle her sobs.
That was Ethan Rhodes's voice!
It was her brother!
'Is he... asking me?'
She wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but she felt like her brother's last words were meant for her, on this end of the line.
Zoe Rhodes instinctively wanted to answer, but she held back.
She didn't dare make a single sound, terrified of alerting the people on the other side.
Since the call had connected, neither Simon Carson nor her brother had mentioned her. And everything they had discussed before seemed to be leading up to that final question.
That could only mean one thing: there were other people with them.
Clearly, this wasn't the right opportunity.
She didn't know if it was Simon Carson having a sudden pang of compassion or her brother simply being too impatient, but they had insisted on calling her, even if they couldn't speak to her directly.
