Julian Bennett's words to Zoe Rhodes were almost cruel. "Of course. It's not just him; it applies to your friend, too."
"Once the passion fades, no one is irreplaceable."
"Instead of getting hung up on your relationship and always putting him first, you should think more about your own situation."
"You need to learn to be selfish."
"Of course, if your friend likes the guy back, then just forget I said anything."
"…"
Lunch ended. The bowl of noodles in front of Zoe Rhodes was almost untouched. Julian Bennett wasn't full, so he simply took her portion and ate it himself.
On the way back, no one spoke.
One was lost in thought, the other was in a food coma.
Zoe Rhodes thought about it all day and finally decided she had to distance herself from Zane Hawthorne.
Julian Bennett was right. Even though she had rejected Zane, she had presumptuously tried to maintain a friendship with him, which was really just deceiving herself.
'A cracked mirror doesn't need to be mended.'
