Simon Carson hadn't slept a wink since leaving The Rosewood Hotel. He'd spent the entire night smoking near the hotel entrance.
He just couldn't wrap his head around it. How could someone who supposedly died ten years ago suddenly appear before him, alive and well?
As he left the girl's room, he hesitated for a moment before deciding to take a few strands of her hair. He planned to have someone run a test on them later.
He arrived at the Kingsley Residence just in time that morning. As soon as he entered the grand hall, he ran right into Renee Kingsley, who was descending the spiral staircase.
"Simon!"
He stopped at the sound of her voice.
She looked like she was in a hurry.
"What's wrong?"
"What the hell is going on with the Hawthorne family from Capella! I saw the news this morning—they're suddenly calling off the engagement!"
Simon Carson stared at her, his expression blank. "You should take this up with the Old Master."
