Zoe Rhodes boarded the plane in a daze and watched, just as bewildered, as Jasper Hawthorne sat down in the seat beside her.
"...What are you doing in Porten?"
"Keeping an eye on you."
"..."
Zoe Rhodes fell silent.
Jasper Hawthorne's words were half-truth, half-lie.
There was an element of surveillance to it. He planned to attend Ethan Rhodes's birthday banquet to see if Zoe Rhodes had truly come back from the dead.
'Of course, more importantly, if I go back now, I won't be able to escape a beating. The situation is already out of control anyway, so I might as well save my own skin first. As for the old man... I'll just leave that for Zane, the eldest grandson, to deal with.'
Four hours later, the plane landed at Porten International Airport.
As the plane taxied, Jasper Hawthorne turned on his phone. Unsurprisingly, a flood of missed calls scrambled to pop up on his screen.
He had a ton of WeChat messages, too.
