"Raina Kendrick?"
"Yes! Are you deaf or something?!"

Jasper Hawthorne sized her up, silent for a few seconds, then suddenly said, "That's not right."
"What's not right?!"
"Your name isn't Raina Kendrick. I heard Zane call you something else last time."
Zoe Rhodes tensed up instantly. "Did you?"
"He was using my nickname."
"Was he?" Jasper Hawthorne mimicked her, retorting.
"Fine. I'll just run a check, then. Raina Kendrick, eighteen, from Capella, right...?"
As he spoke, he was tapping away on his phone, messaging someone.
Zoe Rhodes's hand trembled. "Wait!"
Jasper Hawthorne lifted his chin, his gaze practically dripping with contempt.
