Joyce hastily wrapped a bathrobe around herself and fled the bathroom in a panic. When she opened the bedroom door, she found Eve Hughes standing at the entrance, holding a bowl of hangover soup. Ms. Hughes was clearly stunned by her appearance.
She was soaking wet, her hair completely drenched. Even though a bathrobe was wrapped around her, water still trickled down the fabric and her legs, pooling on the floor.
"Um, well…" Eve Hughes coughed awkwardly. "It seems I've come at a bad time."
"Ms. Hughes," Joyce wanted to explain, but she couldn't find the right words.
Eve Hughes just smiled, her expression seeming to say:
'Say no more. I get it.'
"I made some hangover soup. You should feed him some so he doesn't feel awful tomorrow." Before leaving, she added a reminder, "The floor is wet, so it's bound to be slippery. You two should… be careful."
Joyce's mind went blank as she took the hangover soup.
