Silas Thorne found a random seat and sat down, with Kian Jacobs following closely behind.
At the sight of this new older brother, Zoe Monroe became even more courteous.
Kian Jacobs glanced at Zoe. Her hair, which had been pinned up, was now down, the long, wavy strands conveniently hiding the side of her face that had been slapped.
"Zoe…" But no matter how she tried to hide it or cover it with foundation, the red mark was still faintly visible. Joyce Monroe was also studying her face.
"What's wrong?"
"Your face?"
"Don't even mention it," Zoe Monroe said with a sigh. "I've been traveling all over recently. It might be the change in climate, or maybe I accidentally ate something I'm allergic to. On top of that, I'm dealing with jet lag. My skin's a mess—it's a little red and swollen."
"But it wasn't there a moment ago."
"I was on stage, and you were far away. You probably couldn't see clearly."
Silas Thorne and Kian Jacobs exchanged a look.
