The old madam was incredibly shrewd; she instantly realized she had been tricked by Zoe Monroe again.
She didn't know this granddaughter-in-name-only very well. Zoe Monroe spent most of her time practicing the piano, never fighting for attention. On the rare occasions they met, she was always docile. But her determination to change her surname and cut ties with her biological father's side was proof enough of her ambition.
That was why the old madam had even considered working with her.
But in the end, she had lifted a rock only to smash her own foot.
"Zoe Monroe!" the old madam seethed, her anger flaring.
"Grandma, even if you hit me, I can't help you plot against my sister." Zoe Monroe put on a pitiful, innocent expression. "I already agreed to get you out of the hospital, which went against Father's wishes. As for anything else..."
"I really can't do it!"
"You... What did you say?"
