Silas Thorne stopped tapping on the desk. His gaze fell on the area behind the folding screen, and through the gaps in the latticework, he recognized the person there at a single glance.
"Mr. Thorne, your office..." An executive frowned, thinking a thief or a spy was hiding inside.
Silas Thorne raised a hand, twisting the ring on his ring finger as he said in a low voice, "Everyone out!"
Some executives were worried; after all, the office contained too many confidential documents. Before leaving, they couldn't resist sneaking a few more glances behind the screen.
"Still looking? Why don't you go in and get a better look!"
Silas Thorne's voice came from behind them, sending the executives scrambling out of the office in a panic. Felix Dalton, who was last, was responsible for closing the door.
The moment the door shut, the office grew even quieter. His approaching footsteps, one after another, seemed to tread on her fragile, fraying nerves, making her unaccountably tense.
