"Ethan Quinn is going to Port Vesper, too?"
In the living room, Stella Sterling casually set down the gift box, looking at her parents in confusion.
Her father, Mr. Sterling, sipped his tea with his head down, still putting on the airs of the master of the house, determined to ignore her.
"Aren't you going to open the gift from Quinn?" Her mother, Mrs. Sterling, stared at the small gift box, her eyes filled with a satisfied smile. "That boy... it's been years, but he's as thoughtful and considerate as ever."
Stella Sterling really had no desire to open the gift.
She just repeated her question, "Mom, why is he coming with us?"
"Well, there's enough room in the car. With him coming along, you two can keep each other company. Isn't that nice?"
'Nice? What's so nice about it?' Stella thought. She and Ethan Quinn were barely acquaintances.
They could barely exchange three sentences before the conversation would turn awkward.
