"Hey, what's bugging you?" Brendan Callahan turned to look at Yara Quillan's profile. He hadn't noticed last night, but seeing her today, he realized she was actually quite pretty.
'Ugh, no! What am I thinking?'
When Yara Quillan turned back, she saw Brendan Callahan's face was as red as a steamed crab. Thinking he had heatstroke, she reached out and felt his forehead. The cool touch made his flushed, sullen face turn an even deeper shade of red.
She gave him a puzzled look. "Strange. You don't have a fever, so why is your face so red?"
"I'm not sick!" Brendan Callahan peevishly shook off Yara Quillan's hand and stomped away. 'Women are so annoying. How could I possibly be sick? Seriously!'
"Such a child," Yara Quillan mumbled, shaking her head. She found a shady spot and sat down. When Brendan Callahan saw that Yara didn't chase after him, he got annoyed and stomped back to her.
