The military doctor couldn't help but chuckle at Yara Quillan's peevish expression. His smile then faded as he said to her gravely, "The Chief's head injury is quite serious. We've been trying to convince him to go down the mountain for an operation, but he flat-out refuses."
"Miss Quillan, if you truly care about our Chief, you should go and see him."
This military doctor had been with Henry Lester's unit for nearly a decade. Everyone in the troop had heard stories about Yara Quillan, and they'd always been curious. What kind of woman could make their cold-blooded, detached Chief so utterly infatuated?
Now he'd finally met her, but... what a temper. She was probably the only woman in the world who would dare to throw a fit at their Chief—a man whose mere presence was enough to make people tremble.
"If he wants to die, then let him. What's it to me?" Yara Quillan retorted defiantly, turning her head to face the wall.
