"Yara!" Henry Lester's heart seized when he saw Yara Quillan falling from the tree. He rushed to catch her, heedless of the danger.
Anyone with training knew that the impact force of something falling from overhead, especially from dozens of meters up, would be many times the object's actual weight.
So when Henry Lester caught her, Yara Quillan heard a sickening CRACK. She was held tightly in his arms, but the man pinned beneath her frowned slightly as dense beads of sweat broke out on his forehead.
Yara Quillan didn't know how severe the injuries from that impact were, or where he was hurt. All she knew was that this man had been injured saving her.
The moment she saw Henry Lester, she had recognized him. It was precisely because of this that she had been so stunned, causing her to lose her grip and fall from the tree.
She knew it was highly likely that the man who had kidnapped her was this very person now pinned beneath her, his bones fractured or broken somewhere.
