Henry Lester sat by the bed, letting Yara Quillan hold him and sleep soundly in his arms.
Night fell. The effects of the drug had worn off, and Yara Quillan's eyes fluttered open. Her head was a bit groggy, and the room was pitch-black. She stirred, pushing herself up into a sitting position on the bed.
She had been held captive here for two full days, and she hadn't forgotten that her wedding to Sean Lowell was tomorrow.
'No matter what, I have to find a way out of here.'
She climbed out of bed and pulled back the curtains to look down. Soldiers were still patrolling the villa's garden, and sentries stood guard at the distant main gate. She had already carefully surveyed the surroundings. It would be incredibly difficult to escape, but no matter how hard it was, she had to try.
She glanced at her watch. It was one in the morning. In another half hour, the garden patrol would change shifts. That would be the perfect time to make her move.
