Dinner was a silent affair for William Wynne and Zachary Fairchild. Neither man seemed to touch their food. Only Olivia Wynne ate, oblivious to the world around her.
Both men were watching Olivia Wynne. The moment she set down her fork, they did the same.
"Finished?" William Wynne asked in a low voice, glancing at Olivia Wynne.
"I'm done."
'It had taken considerable willpower to keep eating under their two piercing gazes. She was in no mood for another bite.'
Now that Olivia Wynne had stopped eating, William Wynne abandoned his silent standoff with Zachary Fairchild and turned to him, ready to discuss business.
"I've always heard that Minister Fairchild is a diligent man with a great sense of responsibility to his country and its people. But it seems those were just rumors. Apparently, they can't be trusted."
Having his integrity questioned so bluntly, Zachary Fairchild's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean by that, Chief Wynne?" he asked in a low voice.
