Evelyn Grant bit her lower lip and obediently opened her mouth to take a bite. With her eyes meekly lowered, she looked utterly frail, as if a single, forceful squeeze from him would shatter her like glass.
"How long are you going to keep me locked up?"
Her voice was as soft as ever, yet it carried a rebellious streak, daring to ask him such a question at a time like this.
Knowing she hadn't given up hope, Preston Keaton sneered. Darkness and gloom swirled in his eyes, making him seem cold and grim. "Darling, freedom is for those who are well-behaved."
His gaze turned cold as he lowered his eyes, the curve of his lips twisting into a mocking smile. "But you aren't."
Evelyn Grant's eyes widened. "You're going to keep me locked up forever?!"
Preston Keaton calmly pinched her cheek, his tone deceptively mild. "That's not entirely out of the question."
