Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 Better than the comic

Azazel carefully took a single potato chip from Dee's bag.

He chewed it slowly, still staring at them like he was looking at a miracle.

Baraqiel finally stopped laughing and cleared his throat.

"Azazel,"

Baraqiel reminded his boss gently.

"We need to talk about Kokabiel and the holy swords."

"Kokabiel?"

Azazel waved his hand in the air, completely brushing the topic away.

"Forget about Kokabiel right now. He is just an annoying, loud bug. Honestly, compared to the power you two have... Kokabiel is just a tiny speck of dust."

Azazel leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.

His golden eyes were shining with intense, burning curiosity.

"I need to know,"

Azazel said, his voice completely serious now.

"Where are you really from? I know the multiverse is real, but where exactly did you start?"

Elias looked at the Fallen Angel leader.

Azazel was a huge fan, and he already knew the story from the comic book.

There was no reason to lie or hide his past anymore.

"I come from Earth,"

Elias answered honestly.

"But not the Earth in this universe. I come from the Earth in the DC universe."

Elias learned his real world through comics as well.

Azazel nodded slowly, soaking in the incredible truth.

He had read all about the heroes and villains of that crazy world.

To meet someone from there was mind-blowing.

Then, Azazel turned his eyes to Dee.

"And you?"

Azazel asked softly. He spoke to her with deep respect.

"In the stories, you are the end of all things. You are Death."

Dee smiled her gentle, sweet smile.

She swallowed her bite of food and looked at Azazel.

"Usually, I am everywhere,"

Dee explained. Her words were simple, but they carried a massive, ancient weight.

"I exist in every universe, in every timeline, all at the same time. But when you are everywhere... It is very hard to feel anything. You just watch."

Dee looked down at her hands, flexing her pale fingers.

"I wanted to have a real sense of self,"

Dee continued softly.

"I wanted to feel happiness, sadness, and love. So, I cut my connection to the rest of the multiverse. I took all of my consciousness and squeezed it into this single body. Now, I am a real person."

She turned and wrapped her arms around Elias's arm, hugging him tightly.

Her dark, endless eyes filled with absolute warmth.

"Now, I am just Dee,"

She stated proudly, her voice ringing clear in the quiet room.

"I am Elias's girlfriend. And in the future, I will be his Queen."

Azazel stared at them in total silence.

He felt a deep chill run down his spine, but it wasn't from fear. It was from awe.

The Goddess of Death gave up her connection to the infinite multiverse just so she could fall in love and be with this boy.

It was the most beautiful, terrifying, and romantic thing Azazel had ever heard.

He let out a long breath and fell back against the leather couch.

"Amazing,"

Azazel whispered, a genuine smile spreading across his face.

"This is way better than the comic books."

After a few more minutes of happy silence, Azazel finally shook his head.

He needed to focus on his actual job as a leader.

"Alright,"

Azazel sighed, crossing his arms.

"As much as I want to ask you a million questions about your universe, we should probably talk about Kokabiel."

Elias nodded.

"What is his real plan? Why did he steal the swords and bring them to Kuoh?"

Azazel's face turned dark and serious.

"We found out he has a secret connection to some corrupt people inside the Church,"

Azazel explained.

"Kokabiel didn't just steal the swords to use them. He stole them to set a trap. He wanted the Church to send their young exorcists here to get them back."

"Xenovia and Irina,"

Elias realized.

"Exactly,"

Azazel pointed at him.

"Kokabiel's plan was simple and cruel. He wanted his Fallen Angels to murder those two girls right in the middle of Devil territory. If the Church found their holy knights dead in Rias Gremory's town, they would immediately blame the Devils. It would spark a massive, bloody war between all three sides."

Elias frowned. It was a very dirty, cowardly trick.

Azazel rubbed the back of his neck, looking stressed.

"I have been trying to track his men down to stop them, but Kokabiel brought a lot of soldiers. I was really worried about those two Church girls. If they get caught out in the open..."

"They are fine,"

Elias said calmly.

Azazel blinked.

"They are?"

"Yes,"

Elias nodded.

"Xenovia actually works for my family now. She is guarding our house tonight. And Irina is with her. They are perfectly safe."

Azazel let out a huge breath of relief.

"Thank goodness. But how did you stop Kokabiel's men from finding them first? He sent a massive hit squad of Fallen Angels into the town yesterday to hunt them down."

Elias smiled and looked down at Dee, who was happily finishing her bag of chips.

"Actually,"

Elias chuckled,

"You can thank Dee for that."

"Me?"

Dee asked, tilting her head innocently.

"Remember those rogue Fallen Angels who tried to sneak into the shrine yesterday?"

Elias reminded her.

"Oh! Right,"

Dee smiled sweetly at Azazel.

"A big group of angry birds with dark magic tried to break into our house. So, I just deleted them. Poof! They are gone forever."

Azazel stared at Dee. He slowly put the pieces together.

Kokabiel's dangerous, elite hit squad hadn't failed to find the girls.

They had accidentally walked into the home of the Goddess of Death, and she had simply erased them from existence without even trying.

Azazel started to laugh. He laughed so hard he had to hold his stomach.

Kokabiel thought he was a brilliant mastermind.

But his grand, evil plan to start a war was already falling completely apart, all because he accidentally messed with the wrong family.
