"You're back!" Kevin Everett looked over with a warm smile. "The food is all ready. Hurry up, wash your hands, and let's eat!"
"Dad, how did you know we were back?" Jayce asked, a little surprised. He had been hoping to give his father a small surprise, but now it was completely ruined.
Kevin glared at him playfully. "Do you think your old man is that clueless? With so many of you returning, of course I heard the news. If everyone else made it back safely, why wouldn't you?"
Charlotte Morgan chimed in with a laugh, "Same here! We all heard the news and rushed over, expecting to see you immediately. When we realized you weren't back yet, Dad and the rest of us started prepping the food. We were just thinking about going out to look for you if you took any longer, and then you walked right in."
Hearing Charlotte's explanation, Sierra felt a warm wave of emotion. Regardless of whatever conflicts they might have had in the past, at this moment, they were family.
